We finally reached the end of the day. I met up with Jayda and Marlena at the lockers.
“Hey Marlena, do you think Luke can drop me off at home today. Alex dropped us off this morning and Jasmin is catching a ride with Sammi?” I ask Marlena.
Usually, I would just walk home but I am more tired than I thought. I went to sleep late last night. I just had to go for an extra run in the forest before going to sleep. I found myself at the springs at the edge of the forest. I sat there for an hour before heading back home.
Marlena responds cheerfully “Of course!”
We start walking towards Luke’s 2024 Black Ford Mustang. Yeah, I know! He is such your typically flashy guy that loves fast cars.
“Hey Luke, can we drop Sleeping Beauty off at her house? Apparently, she did not sleep last night.” Marlena teases while looking at me with a smirk.
I roll my eyes as I laugh at her.
“Of course! Does Sleeping Beauty also need a kiss to wake up from her dreams?” Luke laughs out while playing along with Marlena’s jokes.
We all get in the car while still joking around. I playfully tease “Ewww gross you are practically my brother! Plus, I truly don’t know where your lips have been. I might catch something!”
Marlena bursts out laughing.
“Oh Serena you hurt me!” Luke fakes hurt while holding his heart.
Luke speeds off while we are all laughing.
I love my friends! They always know how to cheer me up. Even when I am this tired.
They finally drop me off at my house. As Luke drives off, he shouts “Hey Sleeping Beauty if you need help waking from your dreams you know EXACTLY who to call!”
Walking into my house I smell freshly made banana bread. Mom must be home early from her duties.
“I’m home!” I yell out to mom.
“Hey sweetie, I just made banana bread. Do you want some?” She sweetly asks with a gentle smile on her face.
My mom is the sweetest person there is. She is a gentle soul that is always willing to go above and beyond to help those in needs. She especially helps orphans who have lost their parents and family in rogue attacks.
Rogues are werewolves with no pack or family. They have either been kicked out of their pack for serious offenses or have chosen to leave pack life. Either way, it is a choice they made of their own. They wonder around looking for food and shelter. Most rogues that approach our borders run off as soon as they see the warriors protecting our borders, but sometimes they group up and try to attack our packs to claim as their own. When they try to invade our home, unfortunately we have to fight back, and they can become gruesome battles. I should know! I sometimes help to attend to the wounded during and after the fights. I don’t like to fight other werewolves. I feel every wolf’s life is important to our race. But that’s beside the point.
“Oh yes please! I am starving!” I exaggeratedly say to mom with a smirk.
She cuts me a piece and I walk upstairs eating.
Mom yells out as I am going up stairs, “Remember we must meet the alpha family for dinner. DO NOT FALL ASLEEP!”
I chuckle. “Okay!”
What is up with everyone and letting me sleep. I will be up through night, but I guess dinner doesn’t count as nighttime.
I walk into my room and turn on some music so I can work on any assignments I did not pay attention to while in class today. I REALLY wish school was at night! I would be able to focus more.
