Chapter 2

1012 Words
It’s finally lunch time! I’m starving since I was late this morning and couldn’t eat a proper breakfast. As I’m walking to the lunchroom, I hear my name being called. When I turn around, I see Caroline, Jayda’s older sister walking towards me. Yes she is Jayda’s OLDER sister. She is so absorbed in my brother and her looks that she forgot to graduate last year. So, we are stuck with her as a senior AGAIN! Sighing I stop. Caroline is the biggest pain and was my biggest tormentor while growing up. She is actually the one that started calling me ghost. I didn’t tell anyone because who would believe me. Caroline is the prefect angel in the pack’s eyes. They say she will be a luna in another pack one day and displays the prefect luna qualities. But to me she is a bully that has been spoiled her whole life. “How can I help you, Caroline?” I ask signing and rolling my eyes as I turn around. “Hey Ghost, just wanted to let you know that I’m going to be homecoming queen this year so don’t think about running.” Caroline says in her whinny voice. Damn does she have to be SO annoying! “Caroline, seriously, I have no interest in running for homecoming queen.” I reply exhausted of this conversation already. “Well, I just wanted to make it clear to you.” She says as she walks past and shoves my shoulder. I walk into the lunchroom, get my food and head to the table that all my friends are sitting at. We sit at the same table every day and it’s usually filled with high ranks and warriors from the pack. “It’s true, my father told me himself.” Jayda says with excitement laced in her voice. “Your father told you what?” I asked as I set my tray down and take a seat next to Marlena. “The Bloodstone pack are coming to our homecoming dance this year!” She exclaims. “What? I thought the homecoming dance going to be just for our pack.” I ask surprised. “Well, it was supposed to be, but I guess their future alphas and beta are supposed to be leaving for training at the same time as Xavier and Alex. And since they will be at the pack with the Bloodstone alpha for a meeting, dad invited them to join the party.” Jayda explains to everyone. “I heard their future alphas are HOT!” Marlena points out. “Yeah, I heard they are like bad boy alphas that ride around on motorcycles.” Samantha, a warrior in training adds on. “Well, I would like to call dibs on BOTH of them!” Jayda exaggerates. “Not if your sister has anything to say about it.” I comment to Jayda. “I think she will be too focused on your brother to care who else is there.” Jayda looks at me pointedly. Right. Caroline has a thing for Alex. GROSS! She has had this crush on him for like forever. Unfortunately, they are not fated mates and she is super upset about it. THANK THE MOON GODDESS! But she still follows him around like a lost puppy. “Please leave him out of this.” I groan out. “I’m just stating facts.” Jayda giggles. As lunch went on, everyone was talking about how cute the Bloodstone twins are and how they cannot wait to get the chance to dance with them. Marlena also expressed how she hopes they are her mates and how nice that will be. Marlena turns 18 in two weeks, so she could find her mate then. I just sat there ignoring them and hoping the Bloodstone twins are not my mates because they are sure to reject me. As everyone discusses Marlena’s birthday, me and Luna have a conversation. “Why do you always have to think so negative?” Luna asks in a sad voice. “How can I not? Look at us. We are just so different from everyone here. I just want to know what is wrong with us. Why are we so different?” I ask back exhausted of the same conversation. “Because we are special Serena. You will see how special on our birthday.” Luna says like she has for the last couple of weeks. “Yeah, you keep saying that, but I don’t believe you.” I state. “Can you just have faith in me for once in your life?” She sighs out. Luna then retreats to the back of mind leaving me to my own thoughts. There must be something different about me. I just wish I knew what it was. “Hey Serena, ready to head to math?” Luke asks while standing from the table. It is at that point I notice everyone leaving which must mean that lunch is over. I look down at my tray and realize that I haven’t eaten anything. Ugh, I am NOT going to make it through the day like this. I grab the water and apple off my tray, place it in my backpack, and dump the rest in the trash while walking over to Luke. Luke and I have math class after lunch together and always walk together. “Yeah, lets go. But you are going to have to hide me. I didn’t eat any of lunch and will need to finish in class. And you know how Mrs. Smith can be with students eating in her class.” I tell him in a nervous voice. Luke chuckles shaking his head and says, “Just sit behind me shorty” he teases, “she won’t even know you are there.” “Hey! I’m not that short you jerk!” I yell at him with a fake pout. We laugh together as we walk into class. This will be an interesting class if Mrs. Smith catches me eating.
