Episode 1
Arrived in a private jet.
"Welcome back, Master", the butler said with a smile and bowed.
He passed without replying.
"Finally", Jasmine said as she entered her room looking tired.
She couldn't remember the last time she had a day off. She knew what to expect when she took on this new job at Scott Enterprise, but the true workload was still overwhelming.
Don't get her wrong, she didn't regret her decision. She liked to work, as stupid as that might sound. Having her hands full distracted her from everything else piling on in life.
It was just a lot to get used to, to say the least. As well as the lack of sleep she now had to endure or the fact that she really needed to take a shower.
She got into the bathtub.
"That's what's I'm talking about", she said to herself.
Suddenly, the doorbell rang.
"What the hell", she said.
She got out of the bathtub and covered herself with a small towel and headed to the door.
"Yes, she said when she opened the door.
The person at the door looked at her lustfully from head to toe.
"Can I help you?" she asked.
"You certainly can...", he teased.
"Excuse me?" she asked.
He chuckled and said, "Hello Ms. Clarke, I'm John Sanders, your former landlord's son".
"Former landlord?" she asked in a daze.
"That's what I'm here to talk about. May I come in?" he asked.
"Now?" she asked.
"Yes", he replied.
"I... sure...".
She let him in and excused herself to put on some clothes and came back in some second.
"So, what is it that you want to talk about",she asked.
"My dad died a few days ago",he said.
"Oh! I'm so sorry to hear that...", she sympathised.
"Thank you. I'm his son so his responsibilities are now mine. Which means I'm your new landlord now", he said.
"Okay",she said.
"I noticed your rent was not according to today's standards ", he said.
"What do you mean by that?" she asked in a daze.
"It was too low. I went ahead and raised it accordingly",he explained.
"You... what?! You can't just raise my rent out of nowhere!" she agitated.
"Yes,I can. I'm your landlord ", he replied.
"But that's still -"
"If you take issue with your new rent, feel free to move out. I know plenty of others who'd love to live here!" he interrupted with a smirk.
"Are you kidding me?! I'm not moving out!" she said.
"I'm sorry it had to be this way. I truly am . You've been a good neighbour to everyone. Nobody ever complained about you. I wouldn't have done this if it weren't necessary",he said.
"Sure", she thought.
"Who do you think you are?! Do you honestly believe that I'll let you get away with raising my rent because you felt like it?" she argued.
"I was just trying to -"
"I'm still talking! I'm going to make sure I let everyone living in these apartment know exactly what you trying to do! Then I'll contact the local news and let them know too", she interrupted and threatened.
"You wouldn't dare ",he also threatened.
"Oh yes! I would! " she replied.
He walked away in anger.
"s**t ..." she said to herself.
There was no way she could pay her new rent. f**k. She was barely able to pay her old one.
"What am I supposed to do...?! she thought.
The next day, the alarm signaled which woke her up.
"Yesterday really happened, huh..." she thought.
She wasn't able to get much sleep last night. Worries over worries kept piling on inside her brain, not letting her get any peace.
She lashed out on the alarm first before preparing for work.
"Gotta get ready for work", she said to herself.
She dressed beautifully and left for work.
When she got to her office, she started looking for an apartment on her computer.
"God why is everything so expensive? How do they expect me to survive?!"
Every single apartment she looked at was either too far away or ridiculously expensive. And she realised more and more just how screwed she was.
"Did your mom die?" Chris; her co-worker, approached an teased.
"What?" she was startled.
"You looked like a wreck, Jasmine ", he said.
She rolled her eyes at him.
"What happened", Chris asked.
"My rent happened", Jasmine said.
"Money issues?" Chris asked.
"My new landlord just raised my rent out of nowhere", Jasmine explained.
"That doesn't sound right...", Chris said.
"Trust me, nothing about this guy is right", she said.
"Did anything else happen?" Chris asked.
"Jasmine! Remember to bring the documents to his office in time! He's gonna freak out otherwise", Ann came there panting.
"Oh, you're right...!" Jasmine said and stood up to get the documents.
"Guess you'll finally meet the big boss, Jas", Chris said.
"I'd s**t my pants", Ann said.
But Jasmine played cool.
"How bad can it be?" Jasmine asked.
They started laughing at her.
"Jasmine. Our boss is Mike Scott. That guy has probably won every award there is", Chris explained.
"He's the reason the company is as successful and preseason it is", Ann added.
"He's a business genius", Chris said.
"As well as extremely pleasant to look at", Ann added.
Chris rolled his eyes hearing that and said to Jasmine, "You're lucky he was on a business trip for that long. That guy might be genius but he's absolutely menace. He expects all his employees to work just as manically as he does."
"I think Ryan cried the last he came out of his office ", Ann said.
After hearing all that, Jasmine prepared herself for the disaster.
"Have fun Jas", Chris said.
"Just avoid eye contact and you'll be fine!" Ann advised.
When she got to the door of her boss's office, she knocked but there was no response.
"Should I just go in...? He's gonna kill me if he doesn't have the documents in time...", she said to herself and entered.
"Mr. Scott...?" she called but there was nobody in there.
"I guess I'll just leave the document in his shelf", she thought.
She then walked to the shelf to put the document there.
"Hey there", someone said.
She startled, screamed and dropped the documents seeing someone there.
"Oh sorry if I scared you. I didn't mean to", he apologised.
"I - I - it's fine. I - I didn't know anybody was in here... I just wanted to get you the documents, sir...", she stammered.
"Documents? " he asked confused.
"Yes, the ones you needed for today's meeting, Mr. Scott", she explained.
She squatted to pick up the documents and he helped her out.
"Thank you for that", he appreciated.
"Huh?! Mr. Scott didn't seem as bad as they made him out to be... On the contrary...he actually seemed... nice", She thought.
After picking the documents from the floor, they stood up.
"Thank you, Mr. Scott", Jasmine appreciated.
"You're welcome...Jasmine! I mean Ms Clarke!" he said.
"I prefer Jasmine ", she flirted back.
"You do? Do you have a boyfriend Jasmine?" he asked.
"A w - what?" Jasmine was dazed.
"A boyfriend. I hope not", he teased.
Jasmine became more confused. He then chuckled at her reaction.
"You're cute. How about you and I - "
"James!"
A deep raspy voice echoed right behind Jasmine. She flinched.
"Bad timing, Mike", James; the guy who was talking to Jasmine said.
"This is my office", the latter said.
"Huh?!" Jasmine was confused.
"Who are you?"
The voice behind Jasmine was now directly at her. The voice that she realised belonged to the real Mr Scott.
"Can you talk", Mr Scott said.
"Uh yes...! I - ", she paused. "Oh my God", she said in her head.
Her body went rigid. Just like her brain. The man that was standing in front of her, the man that turned out to be her boss looked straight up like a god.
Her eyes first met his chest and she had to crook her neck in order to look up to his face. And his eyes, so beautiful yet so cold looked down to her.
His stare icy, dismissive and bothered at the same time.
"Is her brain working?" Mr Scott asked.
She snapped out of whatever trance she was in. She stayed unprofessional and made a bad impression...
"Is YOUR brain working?!" she also asked.
"What did you just say to me?" Mr Scott asked in anger.
"I - I - me - ean...", she couldn't complete her words.
He rolled his eyes and scanned her up and down. His stare grew more and more dismissive then he walked passed her to his table.
"Why aren't you happy to see me, Mike? We haven't seen each other for so long", James agitated.
"I don't have time for you right now", Mr Scott said.
"Rude. Is it your mom again?" James asked.
"She's not leaving me alone", Mr Scott said.
"She really wants you to get married, huh?", James asked.
Mr Scott rolled his eyes.
"Mike!" , a voice called. It was Mrs Scott; Mike's mom. "Why didn't you return any of my calls?!" she asked.
"Because I'm working", Mr Scott replied.
Mrs Scott rolled her eyes and said, "I want to introduce you to someone. Come in dear."
A lady entered.
"This is Shirland Jackson, Richmond's daughter. I thought maybe you wanna take her out to lunch?" Mrs Scott introduced.
"Nice to meet you Mike. I heard a lot about you", she said in a high - pitched voice that obviously didn't belong to her.
Her fave lit up the second she saw Mike. Her eyes slowly wandered down his body. She bit her lip.
"I need to work", Mr Scott said without even looking at her.
Shirland felt abashed.
"All you do is work! You need to set time aside to focus on family, Mike!" Mrs Scott said.
"And who's running this company while I do that?" Mr Scott asked.
"You have enough employees!" Mrs Scott argued.
"They can't do what I do", Mr Scott said.
"Enough! I want you to go out with this beautiful young lady and get to know her. No discussion!" Mrs Scott exclaimed.
Everywhere was silent until James broke the silence.
"Mrs Scott, don't you think it's inappropriate to expect something like that from your son? When he already has a fiancée ", Mike intruded.
"What?! Who?!" Mrs Scott asked.
"What are you say - ", Mr Scott was confused about what James was saying.
"Don't you wanna get rid of her? There's a solution for that", James whispered to Mr Scott.
"Right... mom", Mr Scott played along.
As at that time, Jasmine was still there fixing the documents into the shelf.
"Let me introduce you to my fiancée ", Mr Scott said and stared directly at Jasmine.
"Huh?!!" Jasmine exclaimed when she realised Mr Scott was looking at her.
