The Heir In Glided Cage
chapter 1
As I walked past the marble hallway, my steps flattered. Torches flickered across the great tapestry that hung before me, woven by my father's command, and by the calloused hands of the people of Avalore.
There stood the King of Avalore, my father, Lucas, and beside him, crowned in silver and grace, the Queen, my mother Isabella.
Being the only daughter, Princess Selene of Avalore, being the only heir has never been easy.
The King has tried everything to marry me off- to families with wealth, to those with titles. The Queen opposes it, claiming I'm still a youth... but I know her true reasons go far beyond me.
Being the only princess of Avalore, the among seven princes born of different mothers. I have no one to share my sorrows with, no shoulder to lay my head on. All they care about is royalty, and the rising power of the kingdom. The offers me comfort is my handmaiden, Elara.
As I was lost in thought, pacing the hallway, I suddenly felt a presence. A sweet Jasmine fragrance drifted from behind me I knew it at once the Crown Prince, my eldest brother Caius.
I did not turn around instead I closed my eyes and let the scent linger.
"Her royal Majesty, the Princess of the seven seas. The only one who lights up the kingdom. To what do I owe the pleasure of your presence out here my Princess ?
The Crown Prince said, bowing low in full royal form.
You never miss an opportunity to flatter me your Majesty", I replied curtsying in return.
"He chuckled softly.
The kingdom would be in a deep hole without you my Princess". Spreading his hands in grand gesture.
" I smiled
Did the meeting with the Prime Minister go through? I asked giving him a questioning look.
" Your Highness, you shouldn't worry about the politics of this kingdom. Rather you should be preparing for marriage, like every other princess."
A day doesn't pass by without being tortured by that word "marriage". I murmured.
My Princess, he said, his hands resting lightly upon my shoulder. Do not let it weigh upon you, such matters belong to father " A gentle smile graced his lips.
I know...
I was cut off by a guard running in.
"Your Highness, pardon my disturbance, but you are urgently needed at the palace".
" I shall return to you, My Princess, keep well". He gave me a reassuring smile.
"Escort Her Highness to her chambers" he commanded my guard
"As you command, your Highness".
The crown Prince left with his guard heading to the Palace.
" oh heavens, what could be the matter now? I said to my self as my guard led me back to my chambers.
