Chapter 1
✿CAMILLE MASION✿ Juliette stood at the window staring at the glistening street of Paris in her tiny lace nightie that left absolutely nothing to the imagination. Coffee in hand, phone in the other hand expecting a call from her boyfriend. “You still haven't called Lucien?” Camille asked, coming inside the room with her own cup of coffee. She's wearing a cotton two piece nightwear that screamed Barbie. Her blond hair in a messy bun. “How the hell am I supposed to call him first when he's the one ghosting me?” Juliette turned to face her best friend who seemed to be enjoying her frustration. “I got back from Switzerland three days ago and he didn't even bother to come pick me up at the airport, he didn't even reply to my text. What kind of man would do that to his girlfriend he hasn't seen in a month?” Juliette ranted taking a sip of her hot coffee. “The kind you keep picking apparently. Your taste in men is tragic babe.” Camille laughed “seriously what are you still doing in that relationship? It's giving me second hand exhaustion.” “Oh please get a man before you judge mine.” Juliette rolled her eyes glancing at her phone again. “When was the last time you even squirted?? I'm sure cobwebs are already forming down there.” “You know I don't do love, money is BAE. And this ass…” Camille dropped her coffee and got up from the bed turning her round fat arse to Juliette. “No one is having a taste yet.” She started twerking. “Yes! Shake that booty” Juliette hyped, tapping her ass as Camille kept on twerking. “Shake what your momma gave you” “Go girl” “Shake it like you mean it” “My bestie got the second finest….” The loud ringing of her phone put a stop to their playful moment. Juliette groaned when she saw “maman” was the one calling. The witch must have found out she's back in Paris, why's she calling this early. Juliette answered the call and put it on her ears. “Juuuliietteeeee!!!” Her mother screamed from the other end of the phone. Juliette immediately yanks the phone away from her ears. “You, this stupid, stubborn, wicked daughter of mine, you have been in France for three days now and you have forgotten about your family right? Is this how I raised you?” her mother screamed again. “Calm down mama, why are you being cranky? What did dad do this time around? And besides, I'm planning on coming over soon.” “You are planning? If I don't see you in this house before 12PM you'd…” “Okay okay I'm coming.” Juliette interrupted quickly before she received another treat again. There was an edge in her mother's voice that means something serious is happening and she needs to go home now. “What's up?” Camille asked, looking at the weariness in her friend's face. “There's fire on the mountain.” Juliette replied, rushing to the bathroom “and I don't think my mental health will survive it.” “More reason to call Lucien, at least a good fuçk will help.” Camille yelled after her smiling. ༄ ◕THE VALMONT ESTATE◕ The Lamborghini Urus purred to a stop in front of the castle like mansion, the engine’s growl echoing off the stone walls. The estate was a masterpiece with modern glass extensions, screaming old money mixed with sharp-edged luxury. Juliette stepped out in a cream silk slip dress that hugged her curves, oversized sunglasses shielding her eyes from the mid-morning sun. A guard quickly entered the car to park in the garage which housed a convoy of cars and one of the maids immediately carried her bag. Others greeted but Juliette ignored them all. “Welcome back Ms Juliette, Madame Genevieve and Mr Philippe are waiting for you in the salon”. Butler Henri bowed respectfully. He has been working for the Valmonts for more than a decade now and he's considered family. “Lead the way Henri.” Juliette said boringly. What is so important that her parents organized a family meeting for her. They shouldn't talk about her settling down or she'd just continue her world tour and not return for ten years. Henri opened the door to the salon and Juliette entered. Her father sat down, his brows farrowed and her mother was pacing, her face a mask of barely contained fury. Juliette removed her sunglasses, folding them slowly. “What’s this about? Some family ambush?” “Sit down, Juliette,” Philippe said, his voice heavy. She stayed standing. “Just tell me.” Geneviève stopped pacing. “The company is finished.” Juliette’s stomach dropped. “What do you mean, finished?” “Someone has been embezzling the company's trust funds and it's at the brink of falling, the shareholders have withdrawn their shares.” Philippe sighed “we're facing bankruptcy.” “What? Where's Tristan? Since when did this happen?” Juliette asked. “Tristan is facing jail time, the family lawyers are doing everything they can to reduce the years. His signature was used to borrow huge amounts of money, government documents were tempered with and they're all his signature.” Her mother explained and continued pacing. “Huh?” Juliette's mouth refused to close, her knees weakened and she fell on the nearest couch. “You're joking right… this is some kind of prank and it's very funny haha” she laughed but it was empty. Her parents gave her no response and she knew it was no joke, they're serious. “Tristan would never… he's not dumb… someone is messing with us.” “There are major pieces of evidence Julie,” her father said, his voice laced with fear, “and the lawyers can only fight to reduce his sentence till we pay the money.” “hosw much is the money all together?” Juliette asked, she felt air leaving her lungs. “Seven hundred and fifty billion euros”. Genevieve dropped the bomb. Juliette's vision blurred. The number was f*****g Impossible. “What !!!” Juliette screamed, her eyes wide, she felt time stopped. “Seven hundred what?” “We have one week to pay, Tristan is facing twelve years in prison”. The room spun. Juliette gripped the arm of the couch, her silk dress suddenly suffocating, the room was hot despite the air conditioner working. “What do we do? We can't just generate such an amount of money in seven days. There has to be someone…” she started. “There's only one person with that kind of money and influence,” Philippe interrupted. His eyes met hers, heavy with meaning she didn't want to understand. “No.” The word came out sharp. Instinctive. “Théodore Roosevelt.” her mother said. And Juliette's world went white.
