Being kind and humble has its limit

Dr. Fiona Hart never expected a single night in the emergency ward to change her life. After saving the life of billionaire William Kingsley, the city's most feared and emotionally distant businessman, she becomes the object of his dangerous obsession.

No matter how many times she pushes him away, William refuses to let her go. As obsession blurs into desire, family secrets, corporate wars, and relentless attacks threaten to destroy them both.

Will Fiona and William find love amidst the chaos, or will their broken paths lead them to separate redemptions?

Chapter 1: Fiona Hart
A nurse walked back to her station and slumped into her chair with a tired sigh. “She did two surgeries again?” another nurse asked, spinning around in her seat. “Yes.” The first nurse unscrewed the cap of her bottled water. “She finished an appendectomy, then rushed straight into emergency surgery for a patient with internal bleeding.” She took a sip before shaking her head. “I'm starting to think she's not even human.” “Hey.” The second nurse nudged her arm with a disapproving look. “That's a little harsh.” “Oh...” The first nurse clasped her hands together dramatically. “Fine. Then let's call her a goddess.” The two burst into laughter. “With her skills and beauty, it's such a pity she's still single.” A few steps away, Fiona Hart stood at the scrub sink, rinsing the last traces of blood from her hands beneath the running water. A faint smile tugged at her lips as the nurses' voices drifted in from outside. “Hmm...” The second nurse tapped her chin thoughtfully. “Should we set Dr. Fiona up on a blind date?” Fiona glanced at her reflection in the mirror. “A blind date...?” She let out a quiet sigh and reached for the clean towel hanging beside the sink. “Can you even imagine Dr. Fiona in a relationship?” one nurse giggled. Fiona felt the tips of her ears grow warm. These two really have too much free time. Drying her hands, she stepped out of the scrub room. The nurses were still chatting until one of them looked up and froze. “D-Doctor...” Her smile turned awkward as she quickly lowered her head and pretended to focus on the computer. The other nurse followed almost immediately. Fiona simply sighed. “Carry on,” she said softly before walking past them. She pushed open the door to her office and let it swing shut behind her. Her office was simple, decorated in shades of white and blue. A bookshelf stood against one wall, while patient files were stacked neatly across her desk. The room was spotless, just the way she liked it. Dropping into her chair, Fiona leaned back and closed her eyes. She had barely gotten any sleep over the past three days. Ever since she successfully performed a difficult heart surgery, the hospital dean had begun assigning more complicated cases to her. More surgeries. More responsibilities. The same salary. A ringtone suddenly shattered the silence. Without opening her eyes, Fiona reached for her phone and answered the call. “You little brat!” Her mother's voice exploded through the speaker. “Why didn't you show up for the blind date I arranged yesterday?” Fiona winced and pulled the phone slightly away from her ear. “Mom...” “I don't want to hear your excuses! Be at the location I sent you by two-thirty this afternoon.” The call ended before Fiona could say another word. She stared at the dark screen for a few seconds. Then a message notification appeared. Lora Lounge. 2:30 p.m. He'll be wearing a white shirt. Tall and handsome. Fiona let out a quiet scoff. Great. Half the men in the city wear white shirts. She placed the phone on her desk and pressed the intercom. “Emily, could you come in for a moment?” “Yes, Doctor.” A few moments later, a neatly dressed woman stepped into the office with a tablet in her hands. “You called for me?” Fiona nodded. “What's my schedule this afternoon?” Emily glanced at the screen. “You'll need to review the patient in Ward Twelve before deciding whether surgery can proceed. You also have the Global Doctors Conference at four o'clock, and Professor Raymond requested a meeting with you at two.” Fiona silently calculated the time. There was just enough room to attend the blind date before the conference. She sighed. “Looks like my mother wins this round.” Emily smiled but wisely kept her thoughts to herself. “You may go.” “Yes, Doctor.” After Emily left, Fiona checked the time. A little after ten. There were still a couple of hours before she had to leave. She walked into the small resting room connected to her office, took a quick shower, changed into fresh clothes, and set an alarm for twelve-thirty. Two hours of sleep. That was all she could afford. As she lay down on the couch, exhaustion quickly took over. Within moments, she was asleep. …. Fiona woke to the shrill sound of her alarm. With a sleepy groan, she silenced it. But before her eyelids could completely close, the office door burst open, followed by shallow, quick breaths. "D-Doctor..." the nurse panted, struggling to catch her breath. "The emergency department just called. A trauma patient is arriving in two minutes!” Fiona's exhaustion vanished. In one swift motion, she was on her feet. She didn't know it yet… But in less than two minutes, fate would walk through the hospital doors.
