I was so grateful to be out of that truck I wasnt a reckless person but he made me want to be reckless. He has a girlfriend I dont need that kind of drama and hopefully I wouldn't have to worry about it because I don't plan on seeing him ever again.
My phone buzzed it was Jessica
*Girl these guys are awesome! I can't wait for their party tomorrow!*
*Yea that's great I hope you have fun*
*lol you me we? Because you're coming with me Colby wouldn't stop talking about you I think he has a crush*
*I have plans already jess I cant go*
*Dude come on we've been best friends our whole lives you and I both know you don't have any plans on a Saturday that don't involve me*

*Great now open the door we have to find you something to wear*
Rolling my eyes I shuffled downstairs letting jess in I wrinkled my nose
"You smell like wet dog" I said
"What?! I haven't been around any dogs unless you count matt i did make out with him when i took them home"
"Ewww you just met him what if he's crazy or married with kids"
"Lei hes 22 I dont think he's married with kids living a secret second life in a frat house with 4 other 22 year olds"
I shrugged my shoulders "you never know
The front door burst open my mom ran in looking panicked
"Oh good you're both here!" She said breathlessly "why didn't you answer your phone!" She yelled at me
"Oh uh its upstairs I came down to let jess in she's..."
"It doesn't matter I'm just glad you're both here safe, jess call your mom now please"
"O..ok" jess said looking confused
"Mom what's going on?"
"I just left a meeting of the council they're freaking out over some reports"
"Reports?" I prodded
"Just some reports dear nothing for you to worry about"
"Well you seem pretty worried maybe I should be too"
"Leighton drop it I'm not..."
"No mom I'm 21 years old I'm an adult I'm tired of you hiding things from me I deserve to know"
She sighed "Ok come here sit down" we walked over to the couch and sat she nervously twisted her hands together "well the council met tonight to discuss reports of shifter sightings" she said
"OK? I don't understand shifters have never been a problem before why would they be now?"
Shifters are what most people call werewolves they really just keep to themselves I've heard some packs are like the mob and conduct 'business' of sorts but aside from that they don't really bother humans or fae.
"There's been talk that they've been sighted with vampires"
vampires?

I've never met a vampire not that I didn't think it was possible for them to exist I mean I'm fae and i know some shifters I've just never really thought about vampires and no one in my community has ever mentioned them.
"Mom vampires? Are you sure?"
"No they aren't completely sure right now it's just a report from one eye witness but I want you to watch out and wear this"
She handed me a box opening it I saw a sapphire necklace.
"Its beautiful mom but how is this supposed to help"
"Its a stone made of spelled vervain it'll keep the vampires away and if they get close you'll know."
