"Stop the vehicle", I yelled and Anna turned her face to me immediately.
"I said stop the car", I yelled as the arteries at the side of my neck protuded.
"What are you doing, Jannie?", Anna asked as she held my arm.
"I should be asking you, Anna", I said calmly but my heart had increased its pace.
"Didn't you hear me, stop this car", I said as I got up and leaned forward to the driver, but the other guy, who sat at the passenger's seat, held me back. His hand brushed my ring and I pulled myself back to my seat.
"Don't you dare touch my ring, ever again", I blared as the car sped on.
"Stop this madness Jannie", I heard Anne yell from beside me.
"Madness?" I asked calmly as I sat back on my seat.
"Yes, madness", she replied, brows knitted.
"Anna, are you trying to kidnap me?" I asked, my eyes narrowed at her.
"Why would you think so low of me?" She asked as she opened her arms.
"You have given me every reason to, simply because you don't want me to marry Frank", I half yelled.
"It hurts how you now trust Frank and at the same time, have lost every trust you had in me", Anna said as she shook her head from side to side. As her eyes moistened her eyes, I averted my gaze.
"You don't even care if Frank wants to kidnap you in the name of marriage, but here you are, yelling at me because I want the best for you. For us", she added in a sober tone.
"I ask again Anna, are you trying to kidnap me?" I repeated my question, keeping my gaze on the two men, who paid little or no attention to us.
"No, Jannie", she yelled and I turned my eyes to her.
"I was not sure if it was a wedding so I hired these men to drive us to the supposed venue", she said with a lowered voice and my eyes widened.
"Anna!" I whispered into my palm.
Looking away from her, I said, "I told you about this wedding while I was shopping for our dresses,"
I looked back at her and yelled, "That was about two hours ago, and you already hired drivers?"
"I wanted to be prepared", she responded.
"Prepared for what? Anna!" I yelled, my arms held open.
"Prepared to run in case it's a plot to kidnap you. Jannie, I don't trust Frank", she said as tears welled up her eyes.
I heaved a sigh of relief, "But at least you should be happy for your best friend".
"Why would I be when you no longer trust me?" she asked, fixing her gaze with mine.
"Alright. I'm sorry. You would have just explained earlier", I said, dismissing her drama. "How does she want me to believe that these men were hired within two hours?" I asked silently.
"Did Frank explain his reason for marrying you?" She asked calmly and the car slowed to a halt.
"We are at the wedding venue, Anna", I said as I turned to pull open the door but Anna held me back.
"Look at me and give me an answer", her voice rising.
"Did you ask a question?" I asked, feigning ignorance, with hope that she would let me go.
"Why does Frank want to marry you?" She asked as she locked eyes with me.
"Well, if you must know, my…" I said, my gaze roaming the beautiful interior of the car.
"Look at me, Jannie", Anna yelled, her fingers clutching my chin.
"He said he admire me so much and wants me to become a part of his life", I lied with a shrug. Of course I can't tell her that Frank only wants to marry me in order to secure a contract. And that he warned me neither to fall in love with him nor get pregnant.
"And you believed him?" She asked, tilting her head to the side with a raised brow.
"Yes", I replied with a smile.
"That's nice, now go out and let's make this day beautiful", she said as she nodded slowly with a smirk.
The drivers pulled open the car doors and I was about to step out when Anna held me back.
"Here you go", she said as she handed me a lipstick and a mirror. I took the lipstick and applied it on my lips before returning them.
"Thank you, Sweetheart", I said and she nodded in response.
We got out of the car and walked through the flowery entrance. I pushed open the hall doors and we walked in, the air-conditioned hall providing a refreshing respite from the outside heat.
"What's going on here?" Anna asked but I pretended not to hear her as I continued moving towards the flowery decorated aisle.
My gaze fell on two men in black suit, who stood up immediately they sighted us. The younger man took out his phone and placed it behind his ear after a few taps on it. While he walked away from us, the other man, who is middle aged, walked towards us with a smile.
"Jannie, where is your supposed husband?" Anna yelled but this time, she was in front of me and her jaws were clenched.
"You are keeping your bride waiting sir", I heard the young man say from a distant while I tried to think of how to answer Anna's question.
"Why is the hall empty?" She asked again.
"Because no one was invited", I answered calmly.
"That's okay, since you know what's best for you. How about your husband-to-be, is he not supposed to be the one waiting for the bride?" Anna asked as she tried to stare a hole through me.
"Congratulations, Jannie", the middle aged man said amidst smiles as he got to us.
"Please do well to get seated as Mr. Stone would be here in no time", he added.
"Enough of all these", Anna said as she pulled my hand and started moving towards the entrance. I pulled my hand off her grip and walked back to the man.
"Thank you sir", I replied as I smiled at him.
"I'm not comfortable with this whole thing", Anna blared as she stepped before me.
I gently pulled her along as we tagged behind the middle-aged man. I sat on where he gestured me to. Anna did same beside me but not before she wrinkled her nose and pulled her upper lip at me.
"Are you sure of this, you know it's not too late to quit", Anna whispered into my ears.
"I'm sure, Anna", I replied with my gaze roaming the hall.
"Then you both should hurry up, it's getting past my lunch time and I'm famished", she managed to say before the entrance door flung open.
