CHAPTER 28 LILY When Lily woke up in a bed that felt unfamiliar, ice cold dread snaked up her belly. Her eyes blinked as she took in the dark room with heavy curtains, hardwood floors, and stained-glass windows. Then she felt a familiar presence behind her. Her back was toasty warm, and her pillow smelled of him. A smile spread across her face as it all came back to her. It hadn’t been a dream: Baran was really here, stroking her hair. She turned around and glanced up at him. This magnificent, too-cocky-for-his-own-good man was hers. A surge of possessiveness assailed her. “You really came for me.” “You should never have doubted I would,” he berated her. Her fingers stroked the scruff of his beard. “After what happened, I thought you’d never want to see me again. You were so angry.”
