Chapter 1:Part 3

We ran up the stairs to my room and closed the door. My room was slightly smaller than my parents’ room. I had my own master’s bathroom and two oversized closets. My carpet was so plush that your feet sank into it. I had a small area sectioned off for my desk and another area where I played my acoustic guitar. Camilla and Zoey flopped onto my bed as I laid on my jumbo bean bag. “What are you going to wear?” Zoey asked. “Mhmm.” I said, “I have no idea.” “Well, it’s September, so it’s still kind of warm.” Camilla said, “So! Wear something short!” I laughed, “You always want me to wear something short!” Camilla shrugged, “When you get drunk enough, you won’t be able to tell how cold it is.” “The princess is here!” Maddison yelled as she walked in the room. She was wearing an all-white off the shoulder mini dress, it stopped mid-thigh. She had on some white wedges with a long gold chain. Her bob framed her face perfectly. “Well, don’t you look beautiful.” Zoey said standing up. Maddison did a twirl, “Why thank you, Z. But why are y’all just laying around?” “We don’t know what to wear.” I answered. Maddison rolled her eyes and walked into my closet. She came out and threw clothes at us and sat at my desk. “Put it on.” “She’s so bossy!” Camilla teased as she stood up. “I’m trying to get in for free and that’s over at ten! It’s already eight and it’s going to take us at least thirty to get there. Plus I was just told we had to eat before we left.” Zoey and I stood up and the three of us rushed to get ready. Zoey was wearing my plaid crop top with a black tennis skirt; her long legs made the skirt seem shorter than it was. She refreshed her large afro and put on my white choker. Camilla put on a short floral romper; the bottom of her cheeks were cuffed. She put on my chucks with a gold necklace that sat on her boobs. She curled the bottom of her waist length hair. I felt hella self-conscious in the outfit Maddison picked for me. My mama was actually the one who convinced me to buy it, but I could never find the confidence to wear it. The top was an olive-green crop top, my sides were exposed through the holes on the side. The skirt had a high slit on my right leg, that showed off my thick thighs that I’ve always hated. The only reason why I agreed to get it was because I loved how juicy my ass looked in it. I was happy we got our nails and toes did this past Wednesday as I put on my favorite heels. For jewelry, I put on my cuff bracelet and retouched my jumbo high puff. “You should wear that gold belly chain.” Zoey said, pointing to my collection of belly rings. “Wouldn’t it be too much?” “Girl, put it on!” Camilla said. I laughed as I took out the belly ring I had on to replace it with the one they pointed out. “Okay, eat your heart out!” Maddison said coming into the bathroom. “What the hell, Amber! Why have you been hiding this body?” “’Cause she crazy!” Zoey said, as she applied mascara. “b***h, thinks she’s fat.” “Where! You got a flat ass stomach, nice round titties, thick ass thighs, and don’t even get me started on that ass!” “Tell her again!” Camilla said, “I’m jealous, all I got is ass!” We all laughed; she did have the nicest ass in the group. “I’ve always had body issues.” I shrugged as I applied my lip gloss. “I honestly, want to take this off.” “Come eat girls!” My father yelled up the stairs. “Come on, before Amber tries to change.” Zoey laughed. We packed all the things we would need and headed downstairs. I had to grab some pj’s and a change of clothes to spend the night at Zoey and Camilla’s. While I didn’t have a curfew, my parents did not appreciate me coming in past four in the morning. I was the only one in the group who still stayed at home. Maddison offered for me to move in with her, but I wasn’t sure if I was ready to move. “Nuh uh!” My dad said as we entered the kitchen. “Ruby, tell your kids to go change.” “Leave them alone, Tommy, they’re grown.” My mama laughed. “Not under my roof, they’re not.” My dad was six foot exactly and lanky as hell. He had salt and pepper waves that matched his beard. My mama on the other hand, was five foot nine, and had long curly hair. She still had her hourglass figure and youthful glow. A lot of people thought the two of us were sisters when we were in public. Her and my dad were complete goofballs together and their relationship overflowed with love. I couldn’t even tell you how many times I’ve seen or heard them arguing. It always seemed like they were one brain and I wanted something just like it. “Come on, Dad,” I laughed as I kissed his furry cheek. “Don’t be like that.” He rolled his eyes at me, “Won’t Damion be upset if he sees you like that?” “We broke up, so it doesn’t matter.” “Yes!” My mom threw a wooden spoon at him, “Tommy, that is not how you react when your child goes through their first break up.” “I’m sorry, are you okay Pumpkin?” My daddy said with a smile. I rolled my eyes, “Dang, did nobody like him?” They all made faces at each other. “Mom! I thought you did!” My mama laughed, “I said I supported you, not the relationship baby.” “Wow!” Maddison laughed. “Y’all so fake!” I said, making my plate. “I was just trying to be supportive.” My mama giggled as she sat my dad’s plate in front of him. “It’s not my fault he wasn’t the one for my Pumpkin.” My dad said as he picked up a taco. “Preach Pops!” Maddison said, as I sat down next to her at the table. “I never liked him in high school.” Camilla added. “I definitely stopped feeling him junior year.” Zoey said, wiping sour cream from her lips. I shook my head as they continued to clown Damion. It kind of hurt my feelings because it enforced that I had tried too hard for him.
