Chapter 19: TRUE MATE

976 Words
Unknown’s POV: I was on my way to a meeting which would alter the dimension of my company, and my car broke down a few blocks away from the location where the meeting was being held. I did not want to be late and decided to quickly walk the remaining distance. “He just wanted to meet in a neutral area. Why could we not meet at the office itself? His company is going to be mine anyway.” I thought while walking and dodging the people, some heading for meeting themselves, some busy shopping with big bags of purchased merchandise and others looking into stores contemplating on whether the product is worth the cost. I was deep in thought about the final points we needed to discuss before signing the deal, when out of nowhere someone bumped into me. She would have probably fallen over, with all the bags she was carrying. But I held her, ensuring that she was steady, and felt an unfamiliar feeling similar to goose-bumps on the contact. She had a quizzical and embarrassed look on her beautiful face. I had never seen anyone like her before and could guess that she was around 16 to 17 years old, only a few years younger than me. While I was admiring her, she seemed to gather her thoughts, but once she looked up and our eyes met I could only thank the car for breaking down. “Mate.” She barely whispered the word but I heard it.  Few more seconds passed by and we were too lost to notice anything else.  There was only a singular thought that went through my mind as I continued to look into her eyes “She is safe in my arms and I will always make sure she is safe.” Suddenly she tried to move and step away, but I immediately caught her hand which sent some more goose-bumps. Why was she trying to escape? I thought for a second and immediately reasoned that she might have not liked the idea of being held by a total stranger. I did not want to be a stranger, I wanted to get to know her, more than anything I have ever wanted. I lightly pulled her towards me. “Hi. I am Adam Swift. I think I am the luckiest person for having you bump into me. Can I help you with the bags?” She was stunned. I might have come on too strong for her. But to my relief, she replied, “I am Pri... Nuri. I am Nuri. Thank you for saving me from the embarrassment of falling over, and sorry for being so clumsy and bumping into you.” She had a light blush on her cheeks.  Something about her assured me that she was not used to being clumsy. “Don’t worry about it. I too was clumsy and did not pay attention to where I was going. I was headed for a...”  I realised that I had been so lost in thought of her, that I had completely forgotten about my meeting. She continued to look at me as if waiting for me to complete my statement. “I had a meeting. But I want to get to know you. Is it possible for you to meet me here at 6 in the evening?” I asked, hoping for a yes. “Sure. Sorry I kept you from your meeting. I will see you later today. Bye for now.” And she twirled and walked away. I stood there stunned with her and myself, “She said yes to meeting me. But what is up with me? I have never been distracted from work for anything and only looking at her I completely forgot about my meeting.” I looked at my watch, I still had a few more minutes before the meeting time, so I headed in that direction, but with the thought of her and only her in my mind. I am in so much trouble! Princess Nuri’s POV: “What did we do, Octava? And what do we do now?” I thought as I walked in the direction opposite to where my mate was standing. Octava had been correct, the thought of Roark being my mate completely vanished the moment our eyes had met. We had met our true mate! And his name is Adam Swift! Octava went on to roar happily, and continued chanting “Mate! Mate! Mate!” in my mind. “Please relax Octava. I am surprised he even asked us to meet him later, with my blabbering like a blithering idiot.” “I am sure that is not what he thought.” She retorted happily. I could feel Octava’s excitement on meeting our mate. I too had been spellbound when I looked into his eyes. I could not wait to meet him later. All the feelings of brokenness from being betrayed by Roark though still there were not aching as much. A chance encounter with my true mate had helped me... Meeting him later would help me resolve things further. Octava continued buzzing as we headed back to the hotel and our room. I had about an hour left before I would need to leave to meet him again, and so I picked one of the cute dresses, and matching accessories, lingerie and shoes, which even Octava approved. I then headed for a nice hot shower and came out feeling rejuvenated. While my hair towel dried, I started to get ready. I was never very good with make-up and so I stuck with what I knew... eye-liner, mascara and some lip gloss... All done and ready to move out, I took a look at myself in the full-length mirror, to hear Octava say "If he does not say that he will never leave your side when he sees you today, then he is an i***t. But either way, he would be our i***t then." I stepped out of the room, and then the hotel, to move in the direction of the place we had met for the collided. The place where I realised that Adam was my mate.
