Chapter 34: THE VISIT

885 Words
Princess Nuri's POV: I slowly moved towards the door, and without unlocking the safety mechanism I opened the door to peek at the person who was interrupting my dinner. I had not expected to see him so soon, but I was going to play the hand I was dealt at the current moment. Good thing I had already prepared myself. "You can't be here! I can't be seeing you again! You are supposed to be dead!! You died!! They killed you!! I mumbled "Go away! I cannot handle this anymore!" I continued to say as I attempted to shut the door, attempted being the keyword because right before the door could lock he used his strength to keep it a wee bit open. "Nuri, it is me. Nothing happened to me, I am right here. Let me show you... Please!" Roark was on the other side pleading.  "That cannot be! You always say that, but that is not the case, they killed you! And they made me watch you die over and over again!" "Baby, look at me. I am right here! Just let me in so I can show you it is truly me!" Hearing him call me baby made me want to punch him, but that would have to wait for now. "Is that you Roark? They did not kill you? But I saw, I was there." I said tilting my head and peeking through the small gap Roark was successfully keeping. "It is me, baby. Please let me in, I need to see you." I unlocked the doors safety mechanism but stood right behind the door, "Baby, I need you to move, so I can come in." "It is you right?" "I promise you it is. I would never lie to you." I was enraged. How could he say that he would never lie to me, he had been for the past 3 years and had even tricked me into believing he was my mate. He was only using me. I clenched my fist to hear "In time Nuri... We will know what they were using you for, and they will answer for their deceit." Hearing Octava's wise words made me calm down, as I slowly stepped away from the door. Roark opened the door slowly and stepped forward in a guarded manner. For each step he took towards me, I took a step backwards.  "Baby, please! Don't move away from me. I am only here to see you. Let me show you that it is truly me." He put out his hand to show me a folded piece of paper, "Take it. You tell me what it is." I opened the paper and it was the small note I had written for him the day after I had met him, I had been worried to tell him that I would be waiting till 18 to complete the mating ritual, and so had written it on a paper and had told him to open it when I left, and give me an answer later. The next day when we met he told me he was fine with waiting if that is what I wanted, and he would always keep that paper with him. "It is you! But they got to you..."  "They did not get to me baby, they got to you..." Roark's POV: I had never seen Nuri like this. But there was something more to it. Something I could not put my finger on. When I showed her the note she had given me 3 years ago she finally believed that it was me but she kept saying how they got to me. So I slowly approached her, "They did not get to me baby, they got to you..." She did not move away when I stepped closer to her. I slowly put my arms around her, letting her know that I was going to hug her, I did not want to startle her by pulling her into a hug suddenly. But the fear of her pulling away was tearing me apart. To my relief, she stayed put and though she did not push me away she did not respond to my hug for some time, but then she hugged me back, "So they did not get you?" "No baby, see I am right here. I am with you and I am never going to leave your side."  I felt her stiffen when I spoke, and though she did hug me back there was a distance I had never felt before. I might have not marked her, or completed the mating ritual with her, but to her, I was her true mate, and she had become very important to me even though I did not want to accept it. I wanted to hug her some more, it made me feel more at ease, but I knew that though she believed that I was myself she needed space. As I pulled away from her, she took a step away. It made me feel low but I had to consider the mental state she was in at the current moment, and I would do what was in my power to help her through it "I am sorry, I did not mean to make you feel uncomfortable."  "I just need some time... I just about to have my dinner, you could join, if you want to." "I would love that, let me help you put another place setting."
