Chapter 24: INFORMATION OVERLOAD

Princess Nuri's POV:

When we started to move towards the car and our arms brushed, I felt the tingling sensation on my arm again. 

Octava had been practically swooning in my head through the entire discussion in the car and even when we were standing at the barricade. But I wanted to be rational, the tingles sent rationality out the door.

I just stood there looking at him, and the moment he realised I was not walking beside him, he came back with this worried look and cupped my face in his hands.

How I wanted to pull him towards me and never let go. Rational me was gone, and only the dragon who wanted to be with her mate was present at that moment. But I did not get to act on it.

Suddenly everything happened very fast, I heard a loud growl from behind Adam, who and protectively stood in front of me, ready to face whatever was coming our way, all while trying to keep me safe. Only I recognised that sound too well. The source of the sound was moving in our direction at an extremely fast pace and had a look of utter rage which was directed straight to my mate.

Before I knew it, I had reversed place with Adam and was standing in front of him, between my mother and my mate.

"Mama? What are you doing here?"

Seeing my reaction to her approach my mother was extremely confused and looked at me quizzically.

"What is going on here? Why did he have his hands on you? And why are you here with a mortal at this time of the night? And why did you just suddenly leave, because it is extremely clear that you were not abducted." My mother questioned me. 

"Tell her everything Nuri, tell her now." Octava was screaming. But how could I tell her everything, I had known Adam for a few hours, her was my true mate, and what about the entire scene with Roark and King Fin.

"Mama. Give us a few minutes. Why don't we head to my room and I will explain everything to you." I tried to reason with her.

"No one is going anywhere until I know why you left home on your 15th birthday. And why are you here with a mortal instead of being with Roark?" 

I knew when mother was like this that there was no challenging her, she was Queen Athena and my mother at the moment, answers would come first and then consequences. And so I did not have any other option but to tell her everything, right in front of Adam.

I told her about Roark and King Fin's discussion, not being able to connect with Octava since the morning after my 12th birthday, and then I told her the information which would change everything.

"Mama, this is Adam, I know he is mortal but he is Octava and my true mate."

This was the moment of truth I would know in the next few seconds what would be my mother's decision, and what would be her verdict.

I took a glance towards my mate, to see an extremely stunned Adam.

This is not how I wanted this date to end.
