Princess Nuri’s POV:
A week had passed, and Roark had visited on three out of the seven days.
Each time he visited, my reactions of shock on seeing him slowly decreased, and now, I was convinced that he believed I had been a victim of the dark arts. And each time he brought along the paper which I had given him about waiting, as proof that it was truly him.
But every time I saw him, there was something on his mind, that I could not understand, it would show in his eyes and would be gone the next second, but I knew I needed to progress on with the plan. And so I decided that next time, Roark would visit, we would go outdoors.
He visited me after two days…
I knew it was him and opened the door with a guarded expression, and received a loving smile from him. “I wonder, how he manages to smile at us in such a manner, even though he is scheming”, Octava said to me, and that made me wonder too.
But I quickly collected my thoughts and slowly let him in. Today was the first time I did not greet him with panic, but put on a sharp front, portraying that I was ready for anything.
“Nuri… Baby… Relax… I know I have arrived rather early compared to usual, but I would like to spend the entire day with you if you are okay with it.”
“I would like to go out and explore the city… Can we do that?” I asked, unsure if he would accommodate my request.
“Anything you want, baby. Why don’t you get ready and we will move out right away.”
I quickly changed into the yellow summer dress I had bought when I had come to the city, let my hair flow, put on matching accessories and shoes, and finally picked up a tiny clutch, as I was about to step out of my bedroom.
“I am ready, let’s go!”
Roark had been looking out the window, I guess trying to give me as much space as I needed, but the moment he saw me, he smiled in amazement, “Why have I never seen you in something like this before… You always look beautiful, but today you look stunning.”
I remembered how he always used to shower me with compliments every day, and I blushed a little. But as quickly as I blushed I remembered that his complements must have been a way to get closer to me and I felt betrayed thinking about it.
We spent the entire day out, travelled by bus, walked around the place, and even went and watch a movie.
Anywhere we went, I could hear Roark growling randomly. And though I was initially confused, I noticed that he growled whenever he saw any other male look in my direction, let alone look at me.
However, one group of males did not deter with the growl, and as they passed by us they looked towards me rather lustfully.
This infuriated Roark, but before he could step forward, I was charged at them, throwing punches and landing kicks. And since being a dragon came with the perks of enhanced strength and agility among other things, especially in comparison to mortals. And very soon I was surrounded by sounds of bones cracking and painful pants.
Until I realised that two members of the group were still standing, and were not just mere mortals as I had expected, they were warlocks. And from what happened next, it was clear they practised dark magic.
One of them drew an extremely sharp dagger, pierced their palm to release blood and before I knew it, I was covered with painful cuts all over my body.
But I was not going to give up. I could feel Octava wanting to take control to protect me, but I could not transform here in front of multiple mortals, and so I moved forward to finish delivering the blows that would knock out the warlock who cast the spell.
But before I could land a blow, Roark had stepped forward and suddenly both warlocks were covered in painful cuts like me.
I turned around to see the mortals were completely knocked out and tied up, and the two warlocks were moaning in pain. But there was also a very shiny bubble surrounding us, and none of the mortals outside the bubble seemed to notice that only a few feet away from them, there were people injured and bleeding.
I looked towards Roark and one of my suspicions was instantly cleared, he had drawn his blood, and was chanting spells.
I stepped away from him and screamed, "You are not Roark! Roark is a dragon!"
