Chapter 21: MY SPOT

Princess Nuri's POV:
"Adam is such a gentleman, he is only a few years older than us but he is already running a company. He is so amazing!" Octava was gushing during dinner.
She was so happy and hearing her after the three years of silence made me feel complete as well.
When we reached the movie theatre and I picked an action movie, he went straight away to pay, "The movie is my choice, I pay for it." He tried to reason with me, but I would not take no for an answer.
He finally gave in "If you are paying for the tickets, then I am going to pay for the popcorn and other refreshments. Also, we have to celebrate your birthday so, after the movies, I will take you to a beautiful place, and you cannot disagree."
"He wants to take us somewhere? Where? Let's go!" I could feel Octava almost bouncing in my head. I had met this man a few hours ago, and though he was my mate, and had Octava in a tizzy, I was a bit sceptical.
"He is our mate! Have you seen how smitten he is? He will not do anything that would harm us." Octava was trying to reason with me, which when you think about it was true.
So I agreed to the outing after the movie.
The movie was amazing, but I caught him watching me instead of the movie a couple of times. "See what I mean, he does not know what a mate bond is, but he is smitten." Octava was all bubbly.
Once the movie was over, we headed out. He made a call and quickly we had a sleek black car in front of us. He asked the chauffeur for the keys and opened the door for me.
He was taking me somewhere far enough that it needed a car ride. This was worrying and exciting all at the same time.
I watched him as he put on his seat belt and repeated the same for myself. This was another new experience for me since we did not use cars back home.
We started to move through the night traffic and got onto the freeway. I was curious about where we were going "So where are we going?" He smiled, "I am taking you to my spot!"
I realised we were moving towards the city outskirts as the roads looked similar to the ones I had been on during the bus ride to the city. But this was in the opposite direction, so I was not worried about encountering someone from my clan. Once we were off the freeway, the traffic kept getting thinner.
We had slowed down considerably when Adam gave me a glance "Close your eyes Nuri. You have to trust me. We will be there in the next few minutes."
"I trust you" was all I could say as I closed my eyes, but I kept my senses on alert.
He was my mate, he would never do anything to hurt me, but I did not like the idea of not being ready for anything.
"Stay alert Octava," I thought.
Just as he said, in a few minutes the car came to a stop and he said, "You can open your eyes now."
I opened my eyes and the sight before my eyes almost took my breath away. We could see almost the entire city, with the night lights. It was beautiful beyond words.
"It is beautiful!" I was barely to whisper in my amazement, but he heard. "Yes, beautiful!" I turned towards him, but he was already looking at me smiling from ear to ear.
"I know we have just met, but I would like to ask you something. You do not need to answer right away, you can think about it and give me your response."
I nodded.
"Though we have met only a few hours ago, I feel a connection with you. And though you are so young, you are a strong, independent, and amazing person. I would like to get to know you better and would like to give you the chance to get to know me as well. What I am trying to say is, will you be my girlfriend?"
I just sat there staring at him, while Octava swooned in my head, she was so ecstatic at the idea and now that he had asked me I realised so was I.
I already knew what I wanted and I knew what Octava wanted as well, but he did not know us, not the true us yet. And I needed time before I could tell him that.
"I like you too. But.."
Hearing me say but, his face dropped "You can take all the time you want to think about it..."
"Adam, I would like to start as friends, at least for now. I would like to get to know you as my friend first, and then I will give you my answer. I promise."
Hearing me say this he seemed a bit relieved, though I could tell he was a yes. But he quickly smiled saying, "Whatever you need. I will give you all the time you need."
I would indeed need all the time, and so would he.
He was mortal and mortals did not know about our existence.
