Ah, the city. Isn’t it wonderful the never-ending noise, the flashing lights, the crowded streets, the traffic jams? car horns honking * city rush hour traffic fantastic “hey asshole move will ya” a random man yelled from out his car window to the large white hummer with something written on the back sat in front the driver of the hummer remained quiet not even acknowledging him. “Hey there’s a collision up ahead listens to the radio dumbass” the man got out of the car walking up to the young woman tapping on the large armoured jeep he knocked on the window “what did you call me, open the window and say that again” the woman opened the window with a bored expression “you heard dumbass there’s a collision it’s all over the radio”. This aggravated him, even more, when “what’s going on here” a young very good looking police officer stood behind the man, “go away s**t head” the man turned to see the officer, “is he bothering you miss” the young woman “yep” the officer took the man back to his car before returning to the young woman, “sorry about the delay it should start moving soon” an unknown voice “he’s hot you like him” the young woman “shut up will you, thank you officer” and just like magic, the traffic started to move. The young officer smirked at the comment as he stepped to the side watching as she drove off. “Hey you can finish early, what was that about” another voice spoke from the sidewalk as the young officer got out of the road as the traffic started moving once again “just some i***t yelling at a young lady” he stood next to his colleague, “no not that the other thing” the young officer “oh that it’s nothing” yet he couldn’t wipe the smile off of his face. The other officer scoffed “yeah ok man if you say so”. The young officer went back to the station grabbing his bag before walking back to his apartment complex which is four blocks away the traffic seems to be moving smoothly now at the side of the road a large red hummer was parked at the side of the road it had something written on the back but it wasn’t in English. Another two blocks there was another hummer the same colour with the same writing in the back “huh that’s odd” the young officer kept walking home the weather had seemed to change from a hot sticky day to a humid and dark sky’s. Outside of the new apartment complex was a white hummer parked in a none parking zone the young officer walked to the vehicle to see if anyone was in the vehicle but the windows were tinted so it was difficult to see inside when “excuse me” the officer turned to see a short middle-aged man in a full piece suite like a butler would wear he was holding a silver tray with a pure white envelope on it, the front of the envelope had only one thing on it no name but a number, an apartment number, the young officer “is this your vehicle” the man didn’t answer the question instead he moved the tray closer to the young officer. He looked down at the envelope then back up at the man, who was blankly starring at him. The awkward silence grew and it became more awkward until the short man in the suit “take the envelope” he finally blinked for the first time throughout the whole time they interacted the young officer looked at the envelope then again at the short man, “take the envelope, sir I have more to deliver” he spoke in a rough tone like he had a sore throat but didn’t take care of it the young officer took the envelope from the silver tray the short man turned on his heel going back into the apartment complex heading straight for the elevator pressing the button. The young officer walked into the main lobby to see the man enter the elevator he decided to take the stairs to his apartment floor. “s**t more traffic” … “well you did decide to go and meet the client at the other end of the city right before rush hour” “you know what can you stop being such a smart mouth next time you can walk home from school” “someone’s in a mood today, is it because I embarrassed you in front of the police officer” “what I’m not in a mood and don’t say client it makes it sound like I'm some sort of hooker” “you know mom doesn’t like you using that kind of language”. “I’m an adult ok she can’t tell me what to do” traffic started to move again “are we nearly there yet Riley” Riley “yes do you want to stay in the car or come in” “I’ll come in”. Parking the car outside of an empty club *gasps loudly* “are you a hooker Riley I can’t go in there, mom will kill us if she finds out” Riley “oh will you relax I’m not a hooker the customer asked if we could meet I said yes that’s fine the customer told me this address now it’s empty, do you want to stay in the car” Riley gave a stern look. “I’ll stay in the car thank you that way if mom finds out I’ll live” Riley rolled her eyes getting out of the car opening the back “can you pass me that box please,” Riley asked her younger sister to help. “Thank you May I promise I won’t be long ok” May “ok be quick… wait can you leave the window cracked open a little oh and lock me in please this area of town looks creepy” Riley glanced around Riley “sure your not wrong about that” Riley closed the door going to the front she opened the door cracking the window a little before grabbing the box and her bag locking the door Riley walking into the empty club going up the stairs. “Hold on miss who let you in” two rather large men stood in front of the main doorway to the club floor. Riley “I’m meeting a customer here” one of the men “what for” he gave a questionable look which Riley completely ignored Riley “look I have cake samples that need to be eaten before they melt” the other man “cake samples….. oh your here to plan the cake for the party in a few weeks”. Riley “yes that’s me” the men stepped aside to allow Riley into the club. The man “here take a seat, my boss will be with you in a moment” Riley took a seat on the red leather seats placing the large box on the table, “ Ah Miss Riley how wonderful to finally meet you in person I’m so glad that you could meet with me today” a tall muscular man in his late 40’s nearly in his 50’s stood in front of the table Riley quickly stood taking his hand Riley “it’s nice to meet you to sir” “please take a seat, would you like a drink” Riley “oh no thank you, sir, I’m driving also I have my sister with me so” “please call me Adam how about a glass of water instead” Riley “that would be nice thank you, Adam” he motioned for someone to bring a glass of water. Adam “these look wonderful” Riley “please help yourself tell me which ones you like the best” Riley quietly waited for Adam to taste each of the cupcakes, Adam took a cupcake taking a bite his eyes lit up Riley “that one is chocolate raspberry swirl which has a hint of rum in it”. Adam tried the other once he was finished Adam “I loved them all” “but for my party, I’d like the first cupcake I tiered and the third cupcake” Riley “ so you’d like the chocolate raspberry swirl and the vanilla rum espresso” Adam “yes I’d like the chocolate one as three-tier cake and the vanilla as cupcakes” Riley “one three-tier cake and how many cupcakes”. Adam “300” Riley “ is there going to be any children present, I have to ask as there will be alcohol in the cakes” Adam “no there won’t be any children at this party” Riley “ok then I’ll start drawing up the design of the cake and email it to you with the price, oh when is the party” Adam “three weeks from now as the cake takes a lot of planning I thought I’d get this ordered in first” Riley “alright then if you can put the date on the email that would be great and I’ll see you in three weeks” Riley stood up saying bye one last time before leaving the club going back to her car where May was waiting. Riley unlocked the door setting her bag in the back before starting the engine and closing the door May “and I thought you weren’t going to take that long” Riley “I wasn’t now let’s go home” Riley checked the rear mirror before driving away from the club back to her apartment complex at the other side of the city. Rush hour was no longer making it a lot quicker to get home, as Riley was getting closer to the apartment complex May “Riley” Riley kept her eyes on the road “yeah May” May “I've seen that car three times this afternoon” Riley “I saw it earlier when we were stuck in traffic”. May “isn't that a little bit strange” Riley “ a little but it could be a different car just the same make and colour that’s all” May “yeah your right” Riley stopped at the lights May “soo did you get the job” Riley “no...of course I did he loved them” May “you know I've always believed in you”. Riley “thank you, it's a big order too” May “ when I finish school can I live and work with you please” Riley “you know I have two extra rooms in my apartment you can have one if you'd like, I'm home all-day baking orders and with my online courses so I can take/ pick you up from school” May “really but I have to talk to mom” Riley “just let me know and we can get it sorted”. The lights changed colours Riley pulled off turning the corner at the intersection soon they were nearing the apartment complex outside we're two large hummers one white and the other red going to the underground parking lot Riley found her space backing into it carefully not to hit any other cars, turning off the engine Riley and May got out of the cars. May helped to carry the cake box while Riley locked the car. The both of them walked to the elevator pressing the call button as Riley's apartment is on the 30th floor. Waiting in the underground garage May “its cold in here for some reason it's normally warm” Riley “ maybe the heater down here is broken” May “ well not to be pushy but can they get a move on with it”. The elevator doors opened. Riley and May entered the elevator pressing the up button to the 30th floor, the garage may be colder then a witches tit in a brass bra but the elevator is hotter then satans c**k-ring on a sweaty day. May “I’m not going to complain about the temperature in a room ever again, God what's wrong with this building Riley” Riley “I don't know but it's hotter then satan's cockring on a sweaty day in here”....... When she saw black leather and smart black trousers looking up she saw a short man Riley stood up may standing behind her looking at the man. He didn't say anything he just held a silver tray with a white envelope on it not saying a word, May “why does it have your apartment number on it” Riley “I don't know, hmmm excuse me how do you know where I live” the man didn't day anything but he held the tray closer looking at the envelope then at Riley. Riley took the envelope, as soon as it was off the tray the man turned around walking down the hallway disappearing around the corner. May “can we go inside now” Riley “yes” she turned putting the keys in the door opening it. Once inside the apartment, May “what the f**k was that about” Riley “why didn't he talk, he didn't even blink” Riley looked the door placing her bag down on the coat hook may “what do you think is in the envelope because he was dressed really well his watch & clothes didn't look cheap”. Riley shrugged “don't know, what do you want for dinner” May “umm, are you gonna open the envelope” Riley “yes ill open it but I need to know what you want for dinner, also I need to get on with work/course work”. May grabbed the envelope as she walked to the kitchen island “ill have pasta later I'm not hungry can I read the letter or whatever it is” Riley nodded and may ripped open the envelope May “Woah how fancy” the envelope was white but the letter inside is jet black paper with snow-white ink in all calligraphy. May “did you apply for a fancy new school for 17 to 29-year-olds” Riley “nope, why what does it say” may “Dear Riley of 3024, we are proud to inform you that you've been accepted to join our brand new private boarding school, ....” Riley “can I have a look” May handed her the letter Riley “boarding school, if you accept sign below then leave at the reception for it to be collected then wait for your next instructions” May “are you going to sign it, when is it collected” Riley “3 weeks I don't know I'll think about it” “now do you have any homework if so get it done before your mom get here to pick you up”. May “ok ok I thought you was more fun” Riley “I am but once you get the boring part done the fun can begin” may grabbed her school bag going to her room which is a guest room for now but may has other ideas. While May did her homework Riley broke out her sketch pad and pencil getting straight to work carefully planning, pricing, drawing and colour coding when Riley laptop started beeping Riley opened the laptop “oh Adam” she answered the face time, Adam “Ah Riley that was rather quick did you get home alright” Riley “ I did, thank you for asking what can I help you with” Adam “ just a few things I forgot to mention at our meeting, .....” Adam went quiet Riley “sure no problem....is it the connection” Adam “no that's fine have you hurt yourself” he pointed to his neck to indicate where there's a cut on Riley's neck. Riley “oh that, it's noting” Adam “what happened” Riley, “some i***t in the building thought he was big and tough just because he had the tiniest pocket knife I've ever seen” “would you like to see the cake design” Adam “you've got it already” Riley “yes feel free to make any changes” Riley held up her sketch pad to the camera Adam “your skill is amazing the only thing I'd like you to add is ‘happy 40th birthday to my lovely wife’” riley “of course is there anything else”. Adam “ah yes price what are you thinking” riley “well it depends on how many does it need to serve” Adam “300-320” riley “so if I make it for 320 then whatever’s left can be taken home” “so I know we said a three tier but for that many people it will have to be a five tier cake that would come to $925.00 and 300 cupcakes I’d say about $750-$900”. Adam "Brilliant so I'll see you at the club can you get there for 8pm on the 20th” riley “20th at 8pm I’ll have to have help getting the cake to my car as I’m on the 30th floor” Adam “Don't worry about that I’ll have three of my men come & help you , oh and before I forget my wife insist that you come to the party I also would like you to join” Riley “oh thank you for the invite” Adam “great see you in three weeks” the phone call ended. Meanwhile , in the living room, May was laid on the sofa watching Tv when there was a knock at the door May stood up walking to the door looking through peephole May “holy mother of baby..” opening the door May looked up to meet three very tall and very good looking men about her sisters age if not a few years older.
