Journey

In a dark and somewhat dilapidated room, a girl lay as still as a statue. One look was enough to conclude that she was one of God’s finest creation. She had hair as black as night and as smooth as silk. Her lips were so red, it could be said to have been painted with blood. Her skin so fair, she almost looked translucent. All in all, she was indeed beautiful. This picture would appear peaceful and satisfying if not for the way her eyes and body were twitching restlessly. She appeared to be having a nightmare. She suddenly stopped all movements for a bit before she jerked up with wide eyes and let out a scream. After she stopped screaming, she just continued breathing heavily. A young man equally as beautiful also rushed into the room in a panicked manner. He didn’t say a word and just pulled the girl into his embrace till she calmed down. Once she stopped breathing heavily, she suddenly started sobbing. Her sobs that were heart wrenching to all who heard it kept coming and coming. The man finally spoke after a long stretch of silence. “Crystal, don’t cry anymore. It’s alright, I’m here now” He said. Crystal sobs were soon reduced to sniffles under the comfort of Aiden. She thought back on it and couldn’t help but feel sad and annoyed at how she was now. It had all started after she had awakened her powers. Aiden came, then danger also followed. After the explosion incident that caused her to lose control, she was brought to the place where Aiden’s father resided. They had talked and hit it off, after which he had apologized for abandoning her. She said she understood he did what was best for her at that moment. Aiden had them proceeded to tell her that her mother had put a bond on both of them before she died to further aid their relationship. The bond made sure that Aiden wouldn’t die unless crystal killed him too or unless the demon within did. He had told her that the bond was similar to the bond of a mate but it was basically a protection spell in a cloak. She would feel a connection between them but it was not something they couldn’t control if they wanted. He also told her that he and his father came from a long line of low level mages and he was said to be the strongest that was ever begot I’m their lineage. She asked him a few more questions about himself which he proceeded to answer truthfully till she was satisfied. That day was going quite fine for crystal and she was loving the fact that she had someone to rely on but then came the NIGHTMARES. It was mellow and not quite serious at first but it soon became something else as she could see people she knew and didn’t know die brutally before her and she couldn’t stop it. At first she was not too shaken up as she went on to start her training but soon the dreams centered on the one person she now relied on, AIDEN. In her dreams, he would die in the most brutal way while she watched as a third party and when she looked towards his killer, it was always her. She started sinking into depression and despair at the fact that she could possibly kill Aiden but he was always there to comfort her. Today was just like any normal day for crystal except that she and Aiden would set out to find the weapons today. ‘’A Distraction' Aiden called it. He said it would help her mind think about other things and so she agreed. She untangled herself from his embrace and recited the words she always did. “Don’t worry I’m going to be fine. It’s just another nightmare.” Aiden knew that it was more than just another nightmare but he didn’t call her out on it. He stood up and told her to freshen up as they needed to train a bit before they headed out. She nodded and smiled but the smile crumpled immediately he was out the door. She felt frustrated, helpless and sad as she thought of the fact that she couldn’t do anything in her dreams or in reality. Over the past few weeks, she had grown to be reliant on Aiden and the thought of losing him frightened her much less her killing him with her own hands. She knew that the reliance she had placed on him was unhealthy and too sudden but she didn’t care. She didn’t know if it was influenced by the bond or her lack of affection growing up but she saw him as someone she could trust wholeheartedly. She stood up and proceeded to get freshened up as she cleared all thoughts in her head. When she came out of her room, Aiden and his father were sitting by the little dining table waiting for her. She greeted Aiden’s father, whose name was Mark before she proceeded to sit down. The meal was as quiet as it has always been and she wasn’t complaining as she needed the quiet. Once they were done, Crystal and Aiden proceeded to the yard for a quick sparring lesson which was pretty intense. She had been very quick to learn and adapt so it wasn’t an issue for her to learn how to fight rather quickly. They sparred for hours straight under Crystal’s request as she used it as a medium to vent. Aiden knew she needed to so he let her. Once they were done, they both took a quick shower before preparing to head out. Armed with the map, daggers and their powers, they bid Mark goodbye before setting out. Crystal looked back at the house she had known to be her home in the past few weeks and she couldn’thelp but sigh. “Leaving another one of her homes” She thought. She turned back and followed closely behind Aiden as they began their journey towards the Lake of Kraken. They had not reached halfway through their journey before they heard rumbling sounds getting closer to where they were. Aiden quickly turned towards Crystal and signaled her to hid behind a thick shrub of bush that was at the side of the road. They ran towards it and crouched there as they heard the rumbling sound getting closer. When it reached where they were it suddenly stopped for a while. When they were thinking it would soon pass them by, a male voice suddenly rang out. “I know you are behind that bush, I can smell you so come out now before I kill you” SHIT.
