The Tale of Two Sisters

CHAPTER FIVE

"Li..a, L...sa!"

Hearing faint voices called her, Lisa slowly regained her consciousness. She opened her eyes, gradually, as the sharp light from the ceiling was entering her eyes, making it difficult for her to concentrate on her surroundings.

After a moment, she finally got to see where she is now. 

She was currently laying on the hospital's bed, she guesses because the familiar scents she used to smell...a few years ago. 

When,

When her parent died a few years ago.

She still can remember this smell, because it was the scent of the day when the doctor finally put a white, plain sheet on both of her parents. 

That was the last image that burned in her memory about her parent.

And the last time when she visited the hospital.

"Lisa? Lisa! Are you okay?"

Lisa finally noticed her colleague, Evelyn, beside her when she called out for her when she was spacing out.

"Omg, Lisa! Are you okay?"

Evelyn looked worried at Lisa's condition now. She even had leftover tears on her eyes, indicating that she was crying, or solely worrying about Lisa.

Lisa tried to move around, or sat on the bed, to talk with Evelyn, but her body ached.

As it was hurting from a powerful impact.

"Don't move, Lisa! The doctor said that your bones may have fractured from the fall in the restroom. What actually happened in there, seriously?"

Evelyn sat down on the chair, near to Lisa's bed, while waiting for her to tell her everything that happened.

"Um, guess I'm too tired, maybe?"

Lisa really wanted to tell her about what happened in the restroom, 

but of course, it will sound weird.

And crazy!

Evelyn looked suspicious, but she did not want to ask for more, since she saw Lisa's face looked pale and sick. Though they were not that close, Evelyn tried to help Lisa, since Lisa always helped her during her time in the cafe. Thanks to Lisa, Quinn and her underlings never bothered her, preferably, they always targetted Lisa.

Evelyn knew that it was wrong, but she remembered when Lisa said;

"It's okay, you were still young, so I rather have them targetted me than you, 'cause you remind me of my sister."

She never thought that Lisa was brave to take the bullying things on her own matter, though she knew that Lisa is hurting.

Lisa stared at Evelyn, who was lost in her own thought, tried to get her attention back.

"Evelyn? Is everything okay?"

Evelyn startled with the question and finally came back to sense when Lisa called her.

"Oh, um, yeah. Sorry."

Lisa smiled when Evelyn stuttered like that because it reminds her of Penelope. She then held her palms to calm her down. Evelyn looked at her and gave her a warm smile back.

"Evelyn, Im fine already. You can go back to work if you want to. I don't want to burden you anymore, and thank you for helping me."

Evelyn shook her head and protested.

"Oh, no! It's okay, seriously! Besides, you always help me back then. Are you hungry, or thirsty? Do you need anything?"

Evelyn asked since she was concerned with Lisa's condition. Feeling amused and happy, Lisa chuckled.

"Hmm, maybe a plain of water? It will be a great help if I can quench my thirst now."

Evelyn nodded and hurried to the hospital's cafeteria to get a bottle of drinking water for Lisa. 

Lisa watched Evelyn run with a smile on her face. After that, she continued to lay down for a bit.

To rest herself from what had happened to her earlier this morning.

"Hmm, what is that all about?"

Lisa closed her eyes while thinking about what just happened to her.

A black crown.

A black forest.

A black spectre.

Everything looks bizarre for her, as the world itself is trying to tell her something. 

As it was trying to tell her,

To become a Queen.

Feeling like it was too quiet, even for a hospital, Lisa realized that the hospital is giving creepy vibes to it.

The silence was too deafening, even the sound of people walking around the corridor did not exist at that moment.

"Hmm, this is weird."

Lisa thought for herself, since, usually, she believed that the hospital was not that too quiet, like when you are visiting the cemetery. 

Believing that it was quite eccentric, Lisa wanted to check it for herself. At that moment, she finally realized that she was alone in that ward, although it was a shared ward. None of the beds in the room was occupied, except for hers.

She believed that it was her first hint to notify something weird is going on in the hospital. 

Still, in her work's outfit, Lisa tried to walk gradually, leaving her room to check the rest of the hospital, and that was when her second hint came through.

The corridor was empty!

None of it was filled with people or nurses, or doctors, rushing around with patients or crunches. 

Nothing at all!

She assumed that something will happen later if she stayed still in her current position.

"Little Lisa has awake, but I wonder, how about her power?"

Lisa astonished when she heard a faint voice, almost like a child is speaking to her.

"Who's there?"

Lisa shouted, wanting to know who is there with her since she was alone in the hospital's corridor.

Suddenly, fear started to consume her, as she felt helpless in that condition, with her bones still could be fractured.

"Hihi. How bout we test her, for a bit? And see what she can do?"

The voice of the second child made Lisa more worried, as it was not only one, but two entities are there with her.

"Who are you? Are you stuck in here too?"

"Hihihi. She looked panicked. So, which toy should we used to test her?"

The voice from the second child, Lisa thought, gave Lisa uneasy feelings, as it sounded eerie.

"Please, help me! Hello?"

"Ugh! She is annoying! Can we just destroy her now? Are you sure she is the one?"

Now, the third voice appeared, and it sounded like it was hating Lisa for being like a scared cat. 

Lisa felt anxious with the third one, as it seemed to hate her, and wanted her to perish in the hospital.

"Patient, Hex. We need her. The throne needs her."

Lisa recognized the voice, as it resembles the first child who was already spoken. It seems like the first one is quite a reasonable one.

"Please, let me go! If you're the one who caused this, please..."

Lisa tried to beg for her freedom, but it just been answered with laughter, filled the corridor as it echoed.

"No! We should play first! Hmm, maybe this one looks safe for her."

The second child sounded like she had found a toy that will play with Lisa in the empty hospital. Though with the word 'toy', somehow Lisa felt that it was more than just that.

"Uhh, great choice, Lullaby! This is perfect...to kill her!"

Hex, which Lisa knew from the previous chat, was encouraging Lullaby, the second child with the toy to use the selected toy to play with Lisa. Lisa felt uneasy with their talk that she started to make her way to find the exit.

"Ah, she finally realized that she was in danger. Perhaps, she is something. Go now, Lullaby."

"Okay, Ivy! Here it goes!"

After learning the names of three of them, Lisa understood that now she was about to face danger.

A danger, 

which might take her life away.

"Here it goes! Go, Lily!"

Lisa started to run faster to find the exit when suddenly, she felt something was wrong. The ground underneath her began to shake violently, making her unstable to run.

"Woah!"

Unstable from it, Lisa bumped onto the wall, which made her whined in pain, as she can feel the bones inside her break even more.

"Uh, oh...am I doing it too harsh?"

Lullaby asked since she kind of saw Lisa cried in pain.

"Heck no! This is just the beginning! I told you! She is weak!"

Hex began to throw it a tantrum when Lisa did not succeed to its expectation.

"Shh!"

Lisa heard that Ivy silenced both of them when finally, Lisa met the 'Lily' that they had mentioned.

"Aww, look! Lily had found her! Be gentle with her, Lily!"

What Lisa saw was not like was she expected it to be. The sweet name of 'Lily' did not even match with the hideous, ugliest, massive big spider that crawled on the wall as Lisa turned around.

"Hisss..."

Lisa could hear the giant spider was grumbling, waiting to eat it prey alive.

Lisa trembled in her position, but she continued to run when the spider is making its way to her.

"Omg! What is that?!"

"Aww, she just ran away! I guess she isn't the one..."

Lullaby sounded disappointed when Lisa just ran away, instead of slaying 'Lily'. 

Lisa did not even care about their opinion. All she had in her mind was to run away from that thing.

And to run away from all of this!

"Hmm, maybe you're right, she is worthless. Ask Lily to kill her off."

Lisa heard Ivy commended Lullaby to order 'Lily' to kill her. Even so, Lisa kept running, though the paths she took, were almost as the same as before.

Like she was running in a circle!

"Okay! Lily, eat that!"

Lullaby ordered 'Lily' to eat Lisa, which made that spider crawled even faster than before. 

At that time, Lisa was almost out of her breath, and she did not have much strength anymore. 

At one point, she realized that she was wearing a ring on her ring finger.

A black ring.

As black as the tiara she saw,

As black as the gown she saw,

And,

As black as the spectre she saw.

And she saw all of that, in the world beyond the mirror.

Though she did not know what it does, she ignored it because she was in the horrifying situation!

She did not have that time to admire her new ring!

As Lisa ran, she stumbled on one of the crooked tiles, which made her fall onto the floor.

"Ahh!"

Lisa rolled around until she hit the walls, which ultimately broke her leg's bone.

"Ouch! That is savage, Lullaby! Do it more!"

Hex was so excited when she saw Lisa was whined in pain. This time, Lisa was cowered in fear.

Fear of death in the unknown dimension.

"Why me? Why it always be me?"

Lisa cried as she whined in pain, holding her broken leg. She felt like the world was never treated her well.

"Never treated me fair..."

So, what will you choose?

Suddenly, a voice rang inside of her.

"I..."

Lisa's mind suddenly went blank.

Choose,

And be the queen.

"Queen...to rule...to rise above the other."

Choose,

And take the lead.

"Queen...to dominate...to avenge."

Suddenly, Lisa can stand, though the sound of her bones cracked. The spider did not care about her, kept crawling to eat its prey.

"Aww, shuck! I thought she was the one."

"Shh! Look!"

Ivy seemed to point something out by looking at Lisa's weird behaviour.

"Queen... the rule...order."

As the spider is closer to Lisa, with only a few inches to eat her, suddenly spikes came from nowhere around the spider and pierced it through.

"Wow!"

Hex shouted disbelief.

The three of the child watched at what happened in front of her, in unbelief.

Lisa commended the spikes, piercing through the spider!

And slicing it to bits!

By waving her hand, that wore the black ring.

All three of them were too shocked to speak.

"She is the one."

"She is chosen."

Lullaby and Hex spoke quietly, feeling scared with Lisa's pure power.

Ivy finally made her appearance in front of Lisa, kneeling before her.

"My Queen."

Lisa, still in her possed mode, did not notice Ivy's appearance. Her eyes looked dead, as it was not a living person anymore.

She then mumbled a few words, in that stance.

She did not look alive at that moment.

"Queen.

To rule. 

To rise. 

To be on top, of the other."

She kept saying that over, and over again until she finally fainted.

Ivy caught her with her spell and put her bed on her bed, covering her up with the blanket.

"Till we meet again, My Queen."
