CHAPTER SIX

Blaire looked at Penelope, unblinking for a moment.    "So?"   Penelope asked again since Blaire did not share any thoughts on her own after Penelope told her about everything. She suddenly felt like she was dumb to tell Blaire about her weird imagination illusion.   Of course, no one can easily believe in that!   Blaire suddenly put her hand under her chin, acting like she was deep in thought. Looking at her in silence, Penelope felt anxious and started to think that, maybe people will believe that she had out of her mind.   "Penelope."   "Yes!"   Blaire's sudden call startled Penelope, who looked uneasy by the silence. Blaire's eyes looked severe, but not in the way like she is judging Penelope.   "The world beyond the mirror, is it like look real? Like do you see the magical creatures, sort of like dragon and anything?"     Penelope surprised with Blaire's question, which she seemed to look intrigued with her story.    She actually looked interested in Penelope's story! And did not think her as a crazy person!   "Uh, yeah. Something like that, as you know, when we were young, as the pegasus, fairies, and others. Listen, I know it sounds crazy, but you don't have to force yourself to listen to it. Maybe I'm just tired and..."   Blaire hushed Penelope in the middle of her sentences, and then she stared at her, with curious eyes.   "No. I do believe it, but it is difficult to accept it, just yet."   Penelope narrowed her eyes, watching Blaire, who took an interest in her story. Somehow, Penelope felt like either Blaire is just as crazy as she is.   Or she is just pretending to take an interest in it, to sympathize with her condition.   "Blaire, you don't have to act like you were into it. It's okay if you said that Im crazy, or maybe tired. Maybe, I am after all."   Once again, Blaire put her index finger on Penelope's lip as she was having a deep thinks for herself.    She acted like she was trying to recall something from her memory. Penelope looked at her, sceptically, while waiting, patiently for her to put down her finger back.   Finally, Blaire snapped her other hand's finger and had that satisfying looks on her face.   "Ah! I remembered it! The library! Say, are you free after this?"   Blaire asked Penelope, excitedly, as she found something interesting to share with her. Like a five years old kid, Blaire looked at Penelope, with her puppy eyes, begging her to say yes, no matter how busy she is.   "Mmph!"   Penelope could not reply clearly as Blair's finger was still pressing on her lip. Blair quickly pulled her finger back and grinned.   "Sorry, haha."   Penelope licked her lips as she felt it was a bit dried.     "Yeah, sure, Im free after this. This school was about to end, right? But why do we need to go to the library?"   Penelope looked puzzled as she did not get the connection between her illusion, or imagination with the library. Blaire smirked proudly, as she knew about something, gave out a little chuckle.   "Patience, my child. I know something about this, or probably, about your dream. Or the illusion. Or imagination. Ah, whatever it is! We are going to the library, end of the discussion!"   Blaire ended their conversation and proceeded to stand up. She wanted to go back to their class to pick up their stuff.   "Wait here. Maybe, we have a few more minutes before the class ended. I just told the teacher that you're sick and need more time to rest."   After that, Blaire left the infirmary, leaving Penelope alone. Penelope took the time to rest her head again after she finally got to recap on what happened, during the time when she fainted.   "Hmm, what is that actually? Oh, maybe I should look at the locket!"   Remember about the locket, that helped her escape from the grey-looking cloud, she decided to give it an inspection.   The locket was nicely wrapped on her palm. She inspected the pendant, which then she realized that something is different about it.   "That's weird...Isn't it supposed to just look like a regular locket earlier?"   She found out the locket now, from an only dull, bronze pendant.  Now, it turned into a flaming, with red flames pattern around it. The locket has a space on the centre, which something could be inserted in it.   "How can it change? Hmm, I wonder..."   Penelope held the locket tightly, pulled it closer to her chest, while her mind is focusing on something.  Her mind now is imagining a massive fireball on the dark space.   "Focusing, focusing."   Penelope kept focusing on creating the massive fireball in her head. She even had some veins popped out on her neck, the result from the intense focus.   Afterwards, while still closing her eyes, she lifted her left hand on the air, imagining the fireball is forming on her left palm. She tried to focus even more about the image of the massive fireball in her head.   "Focus."   Her sweats began to form on her forehead.    "Focus!"   Feeling confident, Penelope raised her hand upward, facing the ceiling.   "Now!"   She screamed on the top of her lungs while thinking that she unleashed the fireball to the ceiling.     Unfortunately, nothing happened.   "Huh, I guess, it was just a dream."   She was a bit disappointed with the result and looked back at the locket, carefully.    "Maybe it was already looking like this when I held it. I'm dreaming too much."   Penelope was about to rest her head again, but Blaire already slammed the door open, making her jumped on her bed.   "Omg, Blaire! A little warning could be nice before you're doing that!"   Blaire threw Penelope's bag on her bed. She gestured her to stand up from her bed quickly. She even put her hand on her waist.   "Get up, lazy-bum! We're going to the library now!"   Penelope sighed, but she smiled. As she was about to leave the infirmary, she remembered something.   "Oh, I should tell my sister about this. She usually freaked out if I came home later without telling her first."   Blaire nodded and left the room first. Penelope put her hand in her bag, trying to look for her smartphone. She rarely put her phone in her pocket, as she prefers to not have it vibrate on her leg.   "Hmm, where is it? Hah! Found it!"   Penelope took out her polished phone, with the blue casing, out from her bag and started to dial her sister's number.    One... Two... Three...     After the three tunes, Penelope hurried up to end the call, as she did not want to deduct the balance from her phone.    "Why is Lisa not answering it?"   Penelope looked at the clock on her phone, and it was only 12 p.m.    Her sister still is doing her work, and the lunchtime was not there yet.   "Oh, shush! She is still in her work time! Guess I should leave the message instead! I hope she will read it."   Penelope quickly hit the keyboard on the phone to write a message for her sister.   Hey yo, Lisa! Might came late! Don't wait, okay! I'll take the bus. XoXo, miss you! Cya!   After she finished wrote a simple message for Lisa, Penelope tapped 'Enter' and sent the note to her sister.   Blaire poked her head inside the infirmary back.   "Done?"   "Yeah, let's go!"   As both of them left the room, suddenly the fire alarm started to ring inside the room, and the water sprinkler in that room began to activate.   A nurse, who walked in the infirmary, after a few minutes Penelope and Blaire left, shrieked when the water soaked her.   "Who turned this water thing around?! And why is this room getting hot?! Is someone playing with the fire inside?!"                   "Blaire, you don't have to this for me, okay?"   Penelope started the conversation as they took the bus to the city's library. Blaire giggled.   "Oh, come on, Penelope! Besides, I finally got the chance to get some time with Adam."   Penelope looked blank for a moment, and then she realized it. She nudged Blair by her elbow.   "Ohh, someone is getting a date!"   Blair pushed Penelope playfully. Both of them suddenly giggled, like they were talking about boys.   "I told him to bring Peter too. Arent, you want to make the first move too?"   Suddenly, Penelope's face turned red, as she heard something that made her heart skipped a beat.   "Peter, who? Peter, Pete? What?"   Blair laughed goofily. When Penelope is embarrassed, she tends to stutter.   "We all knew about it, Penelope. Even Adam knew it. Come on! Peter is Adam's best friend."   Penelope turned to face Blair swiftly. Her eyes suddenly wide open, as she was panicking for no reason.   "I'm sure he can arrange a few things for both of you."   "No! Don't you even dare!"   Penelope threatened Blair, but she did not show any signs of backing off.    Finally, the bus stopped, and Blair ignored Penelope's warning and looked outside.    The Library.   They finally arrived at the library.   "Let's go! I'll ask Adam to sit beside me, so you sit beside Peter!"   Blair quickly ran to exit the bus, while Penelope was still flustered.   "Hey, Blair! Wait! Don't you dare!"   Blair ran fast, as Penelope tried to catch with her, preventing her from succeeding her plan. They both keep running and chasing each other until they finally reached the main door.   "Stop it! We finally arrive. Behave! Or I shall ask Peter to handle you!"   Blair chuckled when she was having fun, teasing Penelope.   Penelope sighed and ignored her. She took out her library card and showed it to the librarian to let her in.  After Blair too, entered the library after showing her card, she searched for her boyfriend. She scanned through all the chairs and finally found him.   "Come on, Penelope! And stay pretty!"   Blair walked quickly, trying to evade a hit from Penelope. As they both walked to the boys, who are busy studying, one of them noticed Blair.   "Babe!"   Adam suddenly loudens his voice, which caused people around him to shush him.       "Shh!"   Adam quickly put his hand on her mouth and softly mouthed Babe when Blair is on his embrace.   "If I knew that you want to shout like that, I will ask you to ask me on a date on the hill."   They both giggled quietly and cuddled until Adam noticed Penelope.   "Hey, Penn!"   Penelope waved back. Blair noticed that there was an empty chair, besides Peter and Adam, so she quickly put her bag beside Adam's chair.   Penelope realized what Blair had done, narrowed down her eyes on Blair, but Blair quickly started her plan.   "Oh, Peter. No one is sitting beside you, right? Penelope, why not you sit beside him?"   Peter looked at Blair, and then turned to look at Penelope, smiled charmingly.   "Oh, sure! Come."     Penelope awkwardly walked to the chair. Peter stood up and pulled the chair for Penelope, which made her even embarrassing.    But she needs to be polite!   "Thanks."   And it came out short, and cold. Peter felt embarrassed and quickly sat on his seat. After that, Penelope immediately shifted her eyes to Blair, as she was the one who was responsible for this.   "So, Blair, what is your so-called plan for the, you know what?"   Penelope quoted the air, to sign her about illusion. Blair looked at Adam, and he showed her the book.   "Well, Penelope. Let's read this, shall we?"     One choice. Two power. Three steps.
