Lucas found his parents in the living room when he got home. “Hey, Mom, Dad” he called out. His mother questioned, "Why didn't you inform me about being late for dinner?" He apologized, "Sorry Mom, I lost track of time." She interrupted him before he could continue. “Emma messaged that she and Rachel, who is now 18, are coming.” Lucas noticed his mother's beaming smile, suggesting that she could be his mate. Rex stirred within, and attempted to protest, but was interrupted by her. "She's grown from a skinny girl to a beautiful young lady." "Mother, I don't think she's my mate," Lucas sensed Rex's increasing agitation. His father's close observation confirmed something amiss. Stacey appeared worried. “How do you know?” she asked. “I'd prefer if...” Rex interrupted abruptly. His sudden outburst shocked his parents. "I refuse to take anyone who isn't my mate!" Rico intervened between his wife and his son. “Rex, what's happening? Take a deep breath." His eyes were pitch-black. “I want mate,” he said. His mother attempted to console him, “You will meet your mate when she...” Lucas fought to restrain Rex, preventing him from disclosing too much. He departed swiftly to avoid any potential discussion with his parents. “Eric tapped his wife's shoulder and uttered, "Tracey, cease your meddling and let him be." She grinned and responded, "But darling, I am certain that Rachel is destined to be his mate!" Eric exhaled in exasperation, shaking his head. ‘My she-wolf is always endeavoured to be one step ahead.’ “Just because Jason and Emma's daughter were mates, it doesn't mean...” Tracey interrupted and said, "Yes, I know, but I'm usually right.
