I’LL FIND YOU

Madeleine’s POV The sun was shining brightly and my mind was still roaming in the void while sitting and staring at my office table. Yesterday, Mary left right away, leaving me behind, and I take that day to use as my day off to relax. However, rather than being able to sleep because I was alone at home, I couldn't because of the flashback of one night stand with a stranger. It's something like I can still feel his palm caressing my every part, his lips claiming me and how pleasurable it feels that I can't stop tingling. In the end, I couldn’t even sleep and my eyes were awake all night. My body became heavier and it appeared as if someone was screaming at me not to go to work because I knew I'd run into the scumbag Raven again. But, no matter how much I want to do that, I need money, therefore I'm stuck with seeing the thickness of my ex boyfriend's face. I was just thinking about him as my ex-boyfriend, that jackass, was making my stomach spin upside down. Nevertheless, I was relieved when I didn't hear his voice or even see his shadow when I arrived at the workplace. I wasn't surprised since it wasn't the first time he had skipped work. "Miss Watson, instead of staring in emptiness and doing nothing, go to my office. The company pays you not to just sit there!” When I heard Linda, our chief editor, say something severe, I returned to myself and sat up straight. My other colleagues who were discussing likewise became quiet and returned to their work. Linda approached me, wearing a purple long-sleeved shirt and a skirt so short that you could nearly see her underwear. I lowered my sight because of the coldness with which she treated me in comparison to the other employees in the office. I mean, I understand that she is extremely strict at work, particularly when there is a crisis with the company. Nonetheless, in the last few weeks, I've seen that her attitude toward me has shifted for reasons I don't fathom, despite the fact that I give my all to this job and business. All of my colleagues are aware of me and Raven’s relationship, but I don't flaunt them, so I'm not sure why the chief editor treats me so harshly. She stepped into the office as I was hurrying to get up. "She lost her temper again. Doesn't she do it a lot to Raven?" I followed Linda, but before I got to her door, I could hear my colleagues' faint whispering, which made me drop my head even more. Every breath I take causes my heart to race. I only wanted to take a step back when I was in front of the office, but I had no option than to turn the doorknob. I saw Linda was busy as soon as I walked in, so I didn't say anything for fear of her venting her rage on me. Yet, I believe Linda had really deep hatred for me when she spoke again. “What? That's all why you are here? You have no plan to come closer? I didn't call you just so you could watch me.” She glanced up at me as I’m trying to control my expression. "Sorry." I just squeezed a word out of my teeth. “Never mind that, anyway, why didn’t I see Raven today?” “...” I lifted my head but I didn’t answer her question. And I also don’t know either. It feels off because it’s like she is waiting for my answer. When she saw I’m pondering, she continued. “Moving on, you must prepare for an interview for the Hopkins Group's CEO." Linda was still looking at me and not taking her eyes off me, "Leo Hopkins, do it for next week." What the hell? For a moment I suspect I heard it wrong. “Sorry but may I ask why? As everyone knows, Hopkins Group’s CEO never accepts any interviews, isn’t it?” “So what?” She raised an eyebrow and leaned back against the chair, “isn’t this your work as editor? To Bring more readers to our magazine?” I was totally annoyed. Where on the continent would I seek for that guy if he shies away from the media on purpose? Leo Hopkins is said to be the most well-known business figure as he is young and talented. But there is also a notion that he is a womanizer who lives a high life of drinking and mistresses. Strangely, despite all of the horrible things stated by those folks, nothing was proved since, for some unknown reason, not even a picture of him was taken, no matter how explosive that subject was. Even the media hasn't seen an image of him. It's an impossible task for me. When I saw Linda's grin, I realized right once that she had assigned me this assignment to humiliate me. Ignoring my silent protest, Linda crossed her legs. "So... If you are incapable of performing the project, kindly inform me and I will find someone who can." The blood of my competitiveness lived because of what she said. I'm a passionate player that doesn't want to fall behind. I don't give up easily even though it’s definitely a trap. Linda raised an eyebrow at me as I gazed at her. "I'll take care of it." I swear I saw her smile which is saying that “I got you”. "Good luck, you're welcome to come out." I departed right away. I was simply standing there breathing normally when I got out. Come on, you can do it Mel, just beat it down as you dumped Raven. I quickly took out my phone and looked up the Hopkins Group office number. I've got hundreds of schemes of invitation in my head. I'll find you. Leo Hopkins. I would search the whole world if I had to.
