Lockley stepped out the door that opened onto the street. There was no traffic and the man registered this immediately. A woman’s scream made him jump. He had no more time to look when he saw a man throw a woman against a building wall and rip her dress. “Hey!” he yelled and started forward when another man in a black leather jacket appeared next to the couple. This man had a rifle in his hands and he cracked the aggressor mercilessly in the head with the butt of the weapon. He then caught the woman by the arm and spoke to her, but Lockley could not hear the conversation. Looking down the street in the other direction he could see where at least three vehicles were parked in a manner that blocked traffic. Parked was not really the right word as he noticed the dents and broken plastic. A
