Cortez burst through the hospital doors and hurried to the nurses station. “Dahlia Dennis?!” “Where can I find her ma’am?” “Room 231 sir.” “She’s awake and allowed to have visitors.” “Thank you.” He said. He was frantic and his heart was pounding. He stopped outside and took a few deep breaths. The whole way here he was kicking himself for not going with Dahlia to the library. Instead he was meeting with Johnny which was apparently an ambush to get him to talk to Anita. What the f**k was up with that anyway? Johnny had always wanted Cortez and Anita to get back together, but after their meeting he detected something else.
