Going Home

When Cortez walked back over to Dahlia he gently took her right hand. She had her eyes closed, trying

to get some rest. When she felt Cortez’s hand touch hers she snapped her eyes open instantly, looking

around confused. “Baby?” She asked in a small voice. “I’m here babe.” Cortez said. “I’m so sorry I wasn’t

around when it was happening.” Cortez put his head down.” “I’m so sorry that I wasn’t there to protect

you.” Dahlia lifted Cortez’s chin.” “Baby, its ok.” “We didn’t know any of this was going to happen. After a

few minutes she looked around the room. “Where is Jason?” She asked. “He was here with me the

whole time.” “I just wanted to thank him for not leaving me.” Cortez fought to hide his annoyance at her

question because he didn’t want to upset her. “He left baby.” “He
