Returning to my pack, I slumped onto the couch, overwhelmed by a mix of frustration and worry. I couldn’t believe how persistent Lia was, doing everything in her power to stay close to me, even involving the council.
“Sorry to say this, but I think it’s time you start acting like an Alpha and not a fool,” Derek's voice echoed in my mind, sharp with irritation. “If you lose our mate this time, I’ll take over, making things worse for you as an Alpha. The council has no right to decide who our mate should be. Don’t be foolish, Alpha—think wisely.”
