My Mistake

Damien's p.o.v

I watch my son as he gives orders to his men. Everyone respects him and he is an amazing leader already. I am so proud of him. The only thing missing is his happiness. The woman that the moon goddess chose for him doesn't make him happy and it makes me sad to know that noone knew the extent of it until recently. He wants to reject her officially, but he feels like since her father is a respected Alpha that we should all sit down and talk. He is already acting like a true Alpha. Someone everyone can respect. I know people respect me more so cause they are afraid of me, but him, he is calm and does things differently. He is having his Alpha ceremony this weekend and I know Logan is having Wolf's the following weekend. I invited them hoping that Amelia shows up. I know it will make him happy. When I told him he could decorate his desk the way he wants to, all he brought was a picture of him, his sister, his cousin and Amelia when they were younger. They are all standing close together and he is hugging her. I know he put it here so he can look at her. I don't think it's healthy at all, but we can't help who we love. I guess the mate bond can't even break that love. I just have no idea why he hasn't looked for Amelia. I know he wants to, but then again she left to work for the king and his military, maybe that is why. She would never try to ruin his relationship with his mate. She isn't like other she wolves who try to ruin relationships. I remember the day Alexis mentioned working with her on a mission. He was happy but upset and he always asks her mom how work is going, but we both know it is to see if she talks about her. Now Alexis doesn't want to hurt him more so she always says they aren't working together. I still regret telling my friends that they would be mates all of those years ago because everything blew up in our faces. We shouldn't have let them date and I should not have listened to my wolf. He's usually never wrong, but this time on something so important he was, although he still claims he isn't wrong.

*Flashback*

"Alpha, Alpha Logan and his family just entered the property" my warrior links me. I didn't feel any change and it doesn't seem like if Miles did either. I ask him though just incase and he tells me no. I start getting nervous. Something is wrong. We would all feel it when our Luna steps onto our property. It's just the way it works here. I get us down to the hall where his birthday party is being held when my warrior announces the arrival of another Alpha with his family and that is when everyone feels it. His fated mate arrived with that family. He stood there and thought it was Logan and his family arriving and he was so excited. I on the other hand started sweating and couldn't even look at my son in the eyes. I knew what was coming. I watched as Amelia ran and hugged him and they realized they weren't fated mates, then some girl walks over to him and claims him as her mate. Amelia and her family left right after that. *end of flashback*

Lexi and I felt the panic he felt that night at finding out someone else was his mate and then a couple of days later, Dominique calls me to tell me that Amelia had lost the baby and he was at Alpha training by then so we drove there and took a visit the following weekend and Lexi and I let him know. He was so upset and wanted to go to her, but we stopped him. His mate was there with him and he couldn't just leave. He told us things were not what they seemed and that he wasn't sure his relationship with his mate would work out, but he didn't tell us why. We assumed it was him not giving their relationship a real shot, but when we walked out we heard his mate Joy talking to a group of she-wolves. "You are so lucky, you already found your mate and can both do the training together" one girl told her. "Have you seen who my mate is though? He looks like leatherface" She said. Lexi squeezed my hand so tight. "Don't be dramatic Joy, he was in a fire accident, from what we hear he is a hero, he saved someone else from burning to death. You should be proud of him. You can't even really see the scars on his face anyways." The girl with common sense told her, but she shook her head. "Well I guess, but his neck and his back is really bad. I saw it when I walked into his room and he was getting dressed. I am the one who has to look at him everyday. It's hard to even do that and I definitely refuse to touch him. I asked for seperate rooms. I am just here because I will be the Luna to one of the strongest packs. He knows he and his wolf need me to be strong so he doesn't say anything. I already talked to him about it." she told those girls. That day Lexi and I found out the horrible woman our son was mated to. Her name is Joy, but she doesn't seem like a Joy. We still hoped that being there together she would change her mind and they would get to know eachother and fall in love. We never heard anything else so we assumed things were going good. That same day at the Alpha training is when we found out that Logan had Wolf training there for the Alpha position to his pack. Lexi and I were surprised to see them there. What about Melly coming here? We knew her and Miles had that planned, but I guess she changed her mind after she found out they were not mates.

It wasn't until they returned home recently from Alpha training that we found out how bad things really are. He is supposed to have his Alpha ceremony and she the Luna ceremony, but Miles said there won't be a Luna ceremony. I have to just accept that he knows what he is doing and it is his life and if he doesn't want her as his mate and Luna, then there is nothing we can do about it. I would rather he find someone who loves and respects him and doesn't call him leatherface. He told his mom and I that they barely speak, that when they first arrived at their Alpha training that she basically told him that they will only be mates infront of people's eyes. People will assume that they are happyily mated, but that that it was only for the best interest of the pack. She told him she might let him mark her on the night of their ceremony, but that she wasn't sure yet. That she felt disgusted with him touching her. I could feel the sadness in his wolf when he told us everything. "She's a cold woman and I did try to get to know her like I promised you all I would. Melly told me to give my relationship my all and I did, but it was impossible from the beginning she would only tell people she is my mate if it benefit her, mostly just to show off, but to other Alpha males she would flirt with them and tell them she was single so I let her be. She had sèx with probably more than half of the males there. Besides me feeling it every night, people would talk. I am so embarrassed to be mated to someone like her and once I speak to her father and let him know everything then we can reject eachother and I can be done with her. Plus the pup in her belly is not mine and I have a feeling she wants to trick me into thinking I am the father since she thinks we are having a mating ceremony." he told us. We couldn't belive it and now it will only be an Alpha ceremony. That Joy girl is lucky that my son is a gentleman because any other Alpha would have kicked her out like the trash that she is. Now if only I could rectify my mistake and give my son his happiness back. For now I just watch him work and link Lexi letting her in on the idea that just popped into my head.
