The land was barren, there was nothing but sand and rock for kilometres, no river, no water, no humans, no trees. The trees they spotted were dry and looked like they belonged in a horror movie. These strange, otherworldly plains reminded Gauri of the desert, but with stretches of plain land and her chance of ever reaching her destination fading with each step, it seemed much worse.
