After they got back home, Wyatt couldn't stop thinking about what could go on with Kindel. He didn't know what it could be, but he knew something was off. He called up the investigator that he uses for his company and gave the investigator Kindel's information and told him that. He had to know; had to know without a doubt what was going on, and he was going to find out. While he was waiting for the report, which usually takes about a week, he kept busy at work. He got to see Kindel every day, which he loved. Finally, the report came in, and he looked at it . It showed that she had family but was estranged from them. The biggest part of it was about her relationship with Travis Mason. It states that there were signs of abuse: physical, mental, and emotional. Even though she did not report it because she was scared, people still saw and said something. The investigator did not talk to Travis because he did not want him to know where Kindel was. Wyatt didn't know what to think. How can anyone do that to a person? He sees the worst in people because of the nonprofit, but it never ceases to amaze him what people are capable of. He was so upset after he read the report that he wanted to find Travis, but he knew violence solves nothing, so after he read it he went for a workout to blow off steam. He finally could calm down so he went back to the office. He asked Kindel if she would go out with him that night and stay the night, and she said yes. She was so surprised because this was very last minute. She went home and got ready, and he told her he would pick her up in an hour. She got dressed in a fitted red dress and black heels, did her makeup, and curled her hair. By the time she was done and had a bag packed like he had asked; it was time for Wyatt to be there. Just then she heard the doorbell ring, and Meghan opened the door. Meghan told him she would go get Kindel for him, and he said, take your time. The next minute, both girls came down the hall, and Wyatt couldn't take his eyes off Kindel. He asked if she was ready, and he said yes. Wyatt helped Kindel get into his truck, and then he got in, and they were off. She asked where they were going, and he said that he thought it would be nice to go out and then head to his place. They ended up eating at an Italian restaurant, which was very hard to get into unless you know someone or are someone. Wyatt could get a table for the two of them in a private area so they could be alone. They talked and laughed, and finally their food arrived. Wyatt asked her if her food was good, and she said yes, that it was perfect. After their meal, they shared a dessert and then left. He helped her into the truck again, and they went to Wyatt's house. Kindel has never been to his house before so she was excited to see what it looked like. When they got to what was apparently his property, he slowed down. There were rose bushes all along the driveway, and flowerbeds as well. They got closer to the house, and she could tell it was a Colonial Revival-style house. It was beautiful. Once they got up to the house, Wyatt pressed a button on his visor to open the garage door and pulled in. Wyatt got out and came around to help her out, which she said, "You don't have to do that every time." He said, i like doing it and I know I don't have to, but I was raised right. Wyatt opened the door for her going into the house, and what Kindel saw was amazing. It was all an open floor plan and high ceilings. There was a chandelier in the living room. Pictures of people Kindel assumed were Wyatt's family were hanging all along on the wall. The kitchen was enormous and had everything anyone would need. He had a huge TV and a surround-sound system. Then he took her upstairs, where the rooms were. They were huge. The guest rooms had their own bathrooms and queen-size beds. Then they went to the master bedroom. It was even bigger. It had a king-size bed, a huge TV mounted on the wall, and still space for a couch in the room. The closest was a huge walk-in closet, and the bathroom had a shower panel with a rain shower head. The bathtub was an acrylic, freestanding bathtub. There was also a freestanding bathtub faucet. She was amazed with the house, because even with the house she lived in with Travis she had seen nothing so beautiful. They went back downstairs, and Travis asked if she would like a drink. She told him yes, she would. He went and got a bottle of wine and glasses and brought them out to her and poured the drinks. He knew now was as good as any to ask about what he had found out. He asked, " Kindel, can you tell me the real reason you moved here?" She looked at him in fear. What should she say? Could she trust him? They have gotten so close the last few weeks that she thinks she can, so she took a leap of faith. Kindel told him she moved to get away from her ex-boyfriend who was abusive. He abused her mentally, physically, and emotionally. She told him everything that he did, including keeping her in his house and not letting her out unless he was with her. She told him that if she even looked at another man, Travis would beat her. She told him he would force himself on her when he was drunk. By the time she was finished, Wyatt was furious, but he knew he had to keep his emotions under control around her. He told her he was so sorry that that happened to her, and if she would let him, he would protect her because he was falling for her. She told him they weren't even dating, so he said, "well let's do something about that. Will you go out with me? " she said. yes she would go out with him, but she would like to take things slow. He said he understood that. They started kissing and hands roamed. She wanted to do more, but she was scared. They ended up watching a movie on the big screen in his room with a bowl of popcorn. In his arms, she felt at home. Just where she is supposed to be.
