Wyvern
Well, there’s a truth explosion that we didn’t expect. His dad falls back in shock.
“I may not be her actual mate? Has not only your life been a lie, but mine?” He stares at Cadmus still in shock who frankly is just as innocent as his dad.
“IF mom isn’t your actual mate then I have so many questions. How do you fake a bond for over thirty years and not fall for the person? What happened to the woman who was supposed to be my mother? What does that mean for your reign and the throne?” All valid questions.
“I vote for a truth potion like you used on me,” I smirk at the memory. “Maybe she’d like a taste of her own medicine.” I couldn’t help the maniacal laugh I was trying to hold in.
“Would you like the honors of making it?” Cadmus asks me and I can tell he’s having just as much fun as I am.
“Can I please, please, please? I’ve been wanting to do this since I met her!” I jumped in place. The guys laugh at my excitement.
“I’ll show you the potion room.” His dad gets back on his feet and puts the journal back in its place.
“Yes!” I jump up from my spot and follow them. I’ll be honest I have no idea what to expect with their potion room. We head off towards the library near the restricted section. They stop in front of a mysterious stone door and his dad pulls out a key.
“The alchemy table is kept there so our younger dragons who visit don’t mess with it.” That makes sense. When the door unlocks, I get excited to see what’s on the other side. The table is stone so no accidents could happen to it with a pentagram carved in it and bright stones on the table. I’m in awe of all the ingredients they had for it. So many things that I had no idea what they did.
“What do we need to do?”
“Here’s the recipe, follow what we do and you won’t make things explode by accident.” His dad explains so calmly.
“Explode?!” I stare at both of them in shock.
“Relax, the last explosion was me when I was a teen so not in a while.” He rubs his neck nervously and lets out a nervous chuckle. They make the potion as if this is an everyday occurrence. I recognize the milkshake concoction and we make our way down to the dungeons. I can hear the whimpering from the two women prisoners, but I tune out Kindra.
“So here’s what’s going to happen, Mother. If I should even call you that…” Cadmus growls at her and she stalks up to the steel bars.
“Of course, I’m your mother! What is the meaning of this?!” She shouts at us. She doesn’t look as threatening in a simple prisoner gown and her brunette hair simply down in loose waves. Not like the poised queen, she was merely an hour ago.
“Jog my memory, isn’t there a truth spell in the cells and probably other stuff in here,” I smirk at the memory that just not that long ago I was behind there.
“Oh yeah, there are.” Cadmus and his dad smirk as well.
“So dear, we found something interesting, and I’d love for you to enlighten us.” He crosses his arms and I feel like I should have some snacks to watch this fight.
“What did you find?” She asks in a shaky voice.
“An old journal.” Her eyes go wide probably knowing what we’re going to expect. “So you do know what I’m talking about.”
“D-don’t be ridiculous.” She’s shaky so now I know we’re definitely onto something.
“We made you a milkshake.” Cadmus gives it to her, and she’s hesitant to take it but eventually does.
“So, about the journal. What did you do!?” She sips at the milkshake and smiles a little as if she’s a little kid getting what she wants.
“My father persuaded me to agree to our arranged marriage when I was a teen despite almost finding my mate. I never found out if he was or not. You came before I could meet him again. My father must’ve scared him off or something.” We know she’s telling the truth thanks to the spell and the milkshake, but that’s hard to think about.
“So I’m not your mate?” He growls at her and is still shocked.
“I don’t think so. I’ve been slipping you love potions for years until I didn’t need to. We just eventually fell for each other or so I thought.” She kept drinking it until it was gone and handed back the glass. We looked at his dad who was in a state of shock.
“What happened to my real mate?” He growled at her as he jumped towards the bars.
“No idea, I didn’t have a hand in you not meeting her, maybe my father did or someone in your family did.” She sounded so calm yet angry about it.
“That wouldn’t surprise me. My father was so strict about who I should mate with.” His dad sounded so sad and angry. “Thank you. I’ll decide whether or not you should go to trial for manipulating me for thirty years or not. Or just flat out reject you and I can set out on finding my actual mate.” This is the only time I’ve actually seen her scared. The thought of her losing her title, maids, servants, power, and jewels. “I’ll let you think about that while I’ll do the same.” We left the dungeons and I could hear her sobbing hysterically.
“So what are you going to do, Father?” Cadmus asks him wearily.
“I’ll let her sit on that and let her worry. I have no idea what I’m going to do right now. I wanted to focus on you two for a while, but then this came up.” He runs his fingers through his hair and lets out a deep sigh.
“I’m sorry father about all this. “
“Me too… me too son… well now that she’s in the dungeons we don’t have to worry about her. So let’s go back to Flurris and see how construction on your kingdom is going.” I nodded, and we all headed out. I frost their wings as we did before and head back to Flurris. When we got back, they built most of the castle! The snow and ice just shimmered in the cold sun. An ice bridge connected the castle to the town, and they covered all the trees surrounding it in snow. With its shimmering walls and intricate details.
As the walls rise, the true magic of the ice castle unfolds and you can see the snowflake crest on the gate and along the six towers. Two bigger towers and four smaller ones all of them with beautiful little snowflakes on them to add more of the family crest onto them. The sunlight, filtering through the translucent ice, I’m lost in the mesmerizing glow of the surrounding trees. The walls, seemingly made of crystal, reflect the light in lots of colors, creating something that’s both breathtaking and surreal. The intricate patterns and designs carved into the ice further enhance the castle's beauty, transforming it into a work of art. The workers must’ve worked so hard to get these details so beautifully.
Inside the ice castle, the walls, adorned with delicate icicles, resemble nature's chandeliers, casting a soft, ethereal light. The air is crisp and cool, as if time itself has been frozen within these walls. The sound of footsteps echoes through the chambers, creating an echo of delicate tinkling as if the castle itself is whispering secrets to those who venture inside.
“How did you get this much work done in so little time!? It’s so beautiful!” I can’t stop staring at my new home.
“The people did it. We're so happy to build our castle back! They didn’t stop since we rallied everyone.” Dad beams proudly at the crowd of people. I keep looking around and find something new to stare at.
“I can’t believe we live here! No offense to our little cottage, but this is much better! Can I see my room!?” I bounce on my toes with excitement.
“Of course you can, you will always have a special place here if you need it. Upstairs third door on the right. Ours is at the end of the hall, you can’t miss it.” Mom hugged me as I squealed in excitement. I ran up the stairs, skipping two at a time. I can hear Cadmus laughing behind me trying to catch up.
“Wait for me!” He shouts up at me. I forgot he’s not used to the cold and ice like we are. I stopped at the top of the stairs as he caught his breath. “How do you deal with the cold?!”
“Hayle keeps me warm. I lived in an ice cave for three months so this isn’t much different. Only this is way better than a cave!” I count the doors in my head until I stop at the third one. “This is it. This is my room…” I open the door and despite the cold and icy appearance, it looks so inviting! I stepped into the room with a huge smile on my face. They adorned the walls with delicate snowflake designs that are supposed to look like wallpaper as if a snow fairy danced upon the walls. The windows, though covered in a thin layer of ice, allowed soft rays of sunlight to filter through. Making the warm look and feel a little bit warmer. The floor was surprisingly warm as they replaced the snowy and icy tiles with plush icy blue carpet. With each step I took I felt a comforting warmth as if the room was trying to hug me. The bed was the centerpiece of the room. I jumped onto it and just sank into it. The sheets you’d think would be cold, felt so soft and inviting. Lots of blankets layered to make you extra warm.
“I think I can get used to this new royal treatment.” I couldn’t stop smiling. Cadmus gingerly made his way across the floor and joined me on the bed.
“At least the bed is warm.” He sinks into the blankets trying to warm himself up.
“I could warm you up,” I smirk at him. There’s some upside to it being cold. Got to stay warm somehow. I boldly grab the back of his neck and kiss him. I feel him wrap his arms around my waist and deepen the kiss.
“Are you sure you want to do this here? You don’t want to do this in my room where it’s warmer??” I could hear in his voice that he wanted to get out of the cold, but I just got here and I didn't want to leave yet.
“Here is just fine.” I kiss him again, wrapping my arms around his neck. Hayle wanted to keep Volt warm as well. I gently let out some of my ice breath but it doesn’t feel cold to him. It was like frost sparkling on his skin. “There, that should keep you warm,” I smirk as he looks at his frosted skin. I kissed him again, and I felt his arms wrap around me again. Deepening the kiss as he caresses me. I feel his hands go from my waist to my hips and then lower and I let out a moan at the touch.
“Oh, I’m just getting started.” He whispers into my ear and I want him to go on. He nibbles my ear but not too hard. His hands caress my body and I just want to feel his touch all over me. He smirked and I would’ve melted into a puddle. I could get lost in his eyes and smirk. He wraps his arms around my waist and the warm safeness of being in his arms comforts me. I relax in his arms and I feel him nuzzling my neck.
“You smell divine…” He whispered in my ear and I almost melted into him. I lean into his forehead and just want to enjoy the moment. He continued nuzzling my neck, and I didn't want him to stop.
“You don’t have to stop…” I blushed as he continued nuzzling. I feel his hands on my waist and they continue to roam my body. I nuzzle his neck and his scent is intoxicating I almost want to bite him right now, but I don’t want to rush into it. I run my hands on his chest and whatever he does works well for him. He is so strong! His muscles are peeking through his shirt and it makes me warm. I feel his hands go slowly going lower and lower on me until he reaches my inner thigh and I moan from anticipation.
“Are you sure you want to do it here? You’re not too cold?” He chuckles, showing me the sparkles on him.
“Yes, I’m perfectly warm thanks to Hayle.” Ugh I’m so embarrassed… pull yourself together
“Oh right. Sorry, I’m a little nervous…” I blush at him and hide my face in my hands. He laughs at me and pulls me to his chest.
“There’s no need to be nervous, it's just me. Just us.” He cups my cheeks and I couldn’t help but blush more. He’s right… it’s just us. I lean into him to kiss him again. He wraps his arms around my waist and deepens the kiss. We only stop for the need for air.
“Are you sure you’re ready for this? There’s no rush. We can wait.” I love that he’s really making sure I’m comfortable. I can feel his hands rubbing my curves but not in a lustful way, more of a comforting way. I pull him into a kiss and wrap my arms around his neck holding onto him for now. His lips felt warm and cold at the same time like being out all day on a snowy day and going back inside to warm up. After the kiss, he looks at me bashfully.
“Maybe we can wait until you’re not so cold.” I smile at him and he breaks away from me and rubs his neck nervously.
“That might be better.” I take his hand again and we attempt to find my parents. Eventually, we found them downstairs at the main entrance.
“Everything alright, dear?” Mom asks me with a knowing smile.
“Yeah, but it got too cold for Cadmus so we’re going to head back towards the capital.”
“I second that, I have no idea how you stand it this cold.” Cadmus’ dad chuckles but wraps his coat around himself more. My parents and I all laugh. I hugged them and looked back at my kingdom. I half wonder what life would’ve been like if the revolting didn’t happen, would I have grown up a royal like Cadmus? I wouldn’t have to hide myself, but it strengthened me. He kisses me on the cheek and his wings pop through his coat. I waved goodbye to them as we made it back towards home.
