"So your mum doesn't know you smoke?"
"She knows I'm just not allowed to do it infront of her because she hates the smell"
"And you're afraid of her?"
"Don't say it like that wait until you watch her kill 100 men with her scream then you tell me if she's scary or not"
She chuckles and shakes her head.
"I grew up hearing bedtime stories about her and what she did and how the evil humans tried to rain hell on earth. My dad was there and he watched it from his building. He said her screams shattered every window in the apartment. He talked to some men after it happened and gushed about how nice they all were. It's kind of surreal to meet her. I just wish he could have"
"What happened?"
"They killed him the second time they came for me. I shot one of the 3 and he got pissed off and shot him in my arms"
She said low but shook herself
"Let's not talk about that"
I squeeze her hand then pull into the garage and hop out. I put my smoke out and open her door. She wraps her arms around my neck and her legs around my waist. I carry her inside
"You ready?"
"Yes"
She whispers back. We walk into the kitchen and I sit down. She turns on my knee and waves to the table where my brothers are.
"Everyone this is Fay, Fay this is Paul and Luke"
"Sorry for scaring you earlier I forgot you were in here"
"It's fine"
She replied to Paul, he smiled at her. I filled her coffee cup and she took a sip. Mum and dad came in from outside.
"Who smoked?"
"Me and Fay"
I said quietly
"She's human! She can't smoke, it could kill her. really Arden that is so irresponsible"
"Mum I'm not her keeper if she wants to smoke let her smoke and don't make her feel bad about it"
I replied in a warning tone. she huffed and sat down opposite us.
"Sorry but I just worry that's all"
Fay smiles at her
"Thank you for caring. But it's hard to stop plus it's all I could do to kill the time where I came from but maybe when my nerves settle a little I can stop"
Mum's face softens and she melts under fays tone. I smirk but say nothing as she fills her own cup
"You know what, you're right Fay I apologise. You just get comfortable here then you can think about quitting"
"So mum fays father was there the day you saved the world. She grew up with you as her nighttime story."
"Shut up really?"
Dad sits forward
"Yeah. He was in the second story apartment building, Your scream smashed his windows he loved all things supernatural. Even after I was rescued the first time he drilled into me that not all supernaturals were bad. Actually it was the last thing he said to me. Not to give up and get out that your not all bad"
She goes off in a daze as she talks and I see mum's chin quiver slightly. Evelyn brings plates of food down, lasagna and fries and it smells mouth watering. She digs in straight away and I smile watching her. Aspen comes in with a few bags and sets them on the table.
"I got you more clothes. Smaller stuff this time hopefully something will fit you"
"Thank you that's very kind of you"
I eat my food and we talk for a while but I excuse us after dinner and carry her upstairs. When we get to my room I set her on the bed and hand her the remote, I pull off my trousers but leave my boxers on and I look at the bed then back at her.
"Do you want me to sleep on the couch?"
"No. Sleep beside me please"
I smile and hop into the top of the bed and pull the covers back for her. She climbs under and snuggles into my arms.
"Do you mind if we watch a star is born?"
"I have never seen it"
"Shut up seriously? We are so watching it then"
She presses play and we watch the movie by the end she's crying like a baby. It's adorable. I wipe her tears and kiss her cheek
"Your cute"
"Stop it"
She shakes her head and hands me the remote
"You pick next and nothing scary I'm a baby"
"Good because I hate the stupid things"
I honestly do. Hate the jumpy parts. Instead I put on an Adam sandler comedy, but soon she yawns and cuddles in closer.
"Sweet sleep baby"
"Sweet sleep Arden"
Soon her soft snores are all that I could hear so I give into the exhaustion and go to sleep.

My alarm starts to blare and I nearly jump out of bed trying to turn the stupid thing off. But my fears were mute anyway. Fay was still fast asleep peacefully in my arms.
Her tiny body was rolled up in a ball in my arms. My arms cradled her protectively. She was honestly the most beautiful woman I've ever come across and I can't wait to see her when I fatten her up a little.
I watch her face move in her sleep, her smile and sigh of happiness and the way she sniffs me is honestly the cutest thing i've ever seen. I look at every freckle and I try to memories them.

I decide to shower quickly while she sleeps. I jump out of bed and go to the bathroom but after I finish peeing I hear her screaming. I finish my business as fast as I can and I run to her.
She is thrashing around the bed and screaming bloody murder. I freeze unsure of what to do.
"NOOO NOT AGAIN GO AWAY LEAVE ME ALONE"
She screams and something inside me snaps and forces me to the bed. I lift her screaming body into my arms and I cradle her
"Sssssh baby it's me, I won't let them hurt you again. I promise. Please baby wake up"
My heart broke watching her suffer. Her screams are strangled and pained. A thin layer of sweat coats her body as she shakes and trembles in my arms.
"PLEASE NOT THE KNIFE NOT THE KNIFE PLEASE"
I freeze. What the f**k did these sick f***s do to her! I pull her body closer and kiss her forehead and shake her gently.
"Baby it's Arden please wake up. You're safe, I will kill anyone that tries to hurt you. I will kill anyone that tries to hurt you"
Her body suddenly begins to relax so I keep chanting it over and over again.
"I will kill anyone that tries to hurt you. I will protect you forever, I love you. And I will kill anyone that tries to hurt you"
"Arden?"
I pull back and look at her face
"Yes it's me. You're awake, thank the heavens your awake."
"You will kill anyone that tries to hurt me?"
Her voice was small. Scared.
"Yes I'll kill anyone that tries to hurt you. Damn I'd kill an army of it meant I never had to see you scared again"
She jumped and wrapped her arms around my neck and sobs into my shoulder. I hold her and let her cry it out. I kiss her cheek and she pulls back slightly.
"Can we go smoke please"
I chuckle and nod
"Yes come I'll show you where we can smoke when we are up here"
I lift her up and she wraps her legs around my waist, I grab my smokes and take her up to the roof.
"Wow this place is so cool"
I sit on a patio seat and put a smoke in her mouth and light it for her. I smoke myself and relax back as she stays on my knee, curling into my body to make herself smaller. She was like a little mouse in my arms but it felt so good to hold her. So amazing to finally have the tingles in my body that everyone who has found their mate has talked about, she surveys the area around us, peeking out through my arms like she's ready for someone to jump out and scare her.
"How do you feel?"
"Like for the first time ever I was able to sleep. I feel refreshed"
"Yeah you only started screaming when I left the bed. I'll not be doing that anytime soon. Next time I'm bringing you with me to pee"
She giggles and her face lights up. I grin back at her. I love that giggle.
"Maybe you could just wake me before you use the bathroom"
"Maybe that would be easier. So I have training this morning. Do you want me to cancel or would you like to watch or what do you want to do?"
She thinks about it for a minute
"I want to watch"
"Then we better get going. I need coffee before we start"
She nods and dumps her smoke, I do the same then carry her back inside and set her on the bed. I give her the bag of clothes Aspen bought her and I go change into shorts and sneakers. When I come back out her jaw goes slack slightly and her eyes widen.
"What?"
"Eh- em- wh- f*****g balls how is it possible to have that much muscle"
I snort and laugh as she checks me out. Her eyes roam down my body slowly. Her heartrate picks up and I grin at her reaction
"Like what you see fayfay?"
Her face goes bright red and I snigger and shake my head. I go to the bag of clothes and look at what my sister bought.
"Anything fit?"
"Not sure"
She pulls out underwear and tights and looks at the lace panties
"They just look uncomfortable I think i'll take a pass on them"
She throws them into the bag then finds a lace bra.
"Seriously that thing looks like a damn torture device. Ahh here we go"
She pulls a sports bra out. I don't comment, I just watch her investigate her new things.
"Can I just wear one of your T-shirts please?"
I smile and jump up and grab one but as I sit back down she strips naked and I look to the roof but I wasn't fast enough
"Big fat bald man big fat bald man big fat bald man"
She giggles
"Why are you chanting big fat bald man?"
"Because your naked and beautiful and if I don't I'll end up going to training with a tent in my trousers"
She laughs loudly. And I can't help but peek at her and I relax when I realise she has her sports bra and leggings on. She throws on socks and sneakers then my T-shirt. She ties it and rolls it up so it's like a baggy crop top.
"You look hot"
I bite my lip hoping my statement doesn't freak her out.
"It's fine stop freaking out on me. Please?"
My eyes meet her pleading ones and I give her a small smile and I nod. I hand her my phone and wallet. She looks at me funny.
"It's for clothes. Go nuts and buy everything you need and want."
"It feels weird spending your money Arden. This stuff is fine"
I sigh and smile at her.
"Ok I know the human world is different to my world but in my world when we meet our mate what's mine becomes yours. Infact all of this will have your name on it soon so everything I have is shared with you. It's what we do so please when I say go nuts I mean go nuts buy a damn car if you want it."
"You don't need to put my name on all of this it's fine I promise I don't expect that"
"I know you don't but I want you to have everything you have ever dreamed of. So please for me go nuts"
She smiles and her face goes red. I stand to my feet and wait for her to get into my arms but she hesitates.
"I think I might want to try and walk"
I pout. I like holding her. But she crosses her arms and sticks out her hip defiantly and I love it. I bite my lip and roll my eyes
"Fine but you're sitting on my knee for coffee. And if you get afraid just climb on me I like it"
I hold my hand out to her and she takes it. We leave the room and I hear her heart rate spike slightly.
"The top floor is ours alone. No one comes up here without permission so don't worry, ok?"
"Ok"
She answers and her heart rate slows slightly. I press the elevator and step inside. By the time we get downstairs her heart is beating so fast it scares me so I pull her into my side. She relaxes slightly then we walk into the kitchen.
To my surprise, gran and grandad were there. They both wave at fay. I pull her onto my knee and her heartbeat starts to slow down again and I start to relax.
"Fay this is drake my grandfather, and you know lilly my gran"
"Oh please just call us gran and grandpa"
Gran says to her, taking the seat opposite us.
"It's nice to meet you again."
"It's lovely to meet you too. So what's your plans for today?"
Grandda asks her.
"I'm going to watch Arden train"
She fills 2 mugs and hands me one. I take a drink and so does she.
"Well I was wondering if it would be ok if I try to heal some of your memories. Make it easier for you to live with them"
She freezes on my knee and her heart rate spikes again. I almost growl at gran for freaking her out so I pull her tighter.
"It's up to you baby. If you don't want to, it's ok?"
"What would you do?"
She asks cuddling into my chest, I rest my head on the side of hers and her body completely relaxes.
"I would simply take your hand and go into your memories and take the trauma away. You would still remember them but they wouldn't affect you anymore."
"Would I have to remember them while you do it?"
Gran sighs and thinks for a second
"That depends. Everyone reacts differently. I have worked with people who have been through something similar to you and they always say even if they are brought back to the memory that it's worth it in the end"
"We can try but I want Arden to stay with me"
Gran grins at her and nods
"Yes we can do it after training"
We finished our coffee quickly then I carried fay outside but when she spots my men her heart rate spikes again.
