Episode 5: Life

It took us about five hours but when we were done setting up my room, Hitoshi suggested we played games till it was time for dinner, something Mia agreed to, I wondered if she was actually going to play but oh well, whatever. I and Hitoshi begun playing while Mia went to get some snacks, by the time she came back, I was already making light work of Hitoshi, his avatar was almost dead, so, he cancelled the game and said we should play football, he must think that is his forte, he must have forgotten what I did to him last time. We were about to pick teams when he said Mia should play first, I dropped the pad and just looked on, well, this should be fun. You remember when I said fun, hehe, this was far from it, it was an absolute mauling, Hitoshi was definitely not holding back against Mia. Ironically, Hitoshi was using Barcelona, the bitter rivals of his favourite team Real Madrid, while Mia was using Real Madrid. The first half ended and Hitoshi was already seven goals up. Mia asked me to play the second half in place of her and while Hitoshi was against it, he had no choice but to say yes. I took the game pad and by the time it was the seventy fifth minute, I was three goals up against Hitoshi, he was now losing ten goals to seven, that’s when he looked at my hands and saw the insane speed I was using on the pad, he immediately frowned and told me to stop cheating, I asked him how I was cheating and that only got him angrier, he asked Mia to look at my hands while we played on, I changed nothing but Mia refused to acknowledge that I was cheating, I could see it, Hitoshi was definitely boiling, time to tease him. I asked him why he had not scored any goal against me, I asked him if it was only Mia he could score against, that seemed to spur him on, he had a clear goal scoring chance and when he missed it, he accidentally crushed the pad with his super strength, I and Mia burst into laughter when that happened but apparently, that pissed him off and he just went out, Mia said he was such a bad loser and I smiled at her while maintaining eye contact. I asked Mia if there was an extra gaming pad, she said yes but that we won’t need it. I asked her what she meant and she said she wanted me to teach her how to play and that we only needed one pad for that, I looked at her confused as hell and she headed for the door, what the hell, but contrary to what I had thought, she was not going out, she was just locking the door. She then walked back towards me, wearing a beautiful smile, she then collected the pad from me and sat on my laps. She then dragged my right had to her right hand while still holding the correctly, I then put both of my hands on her hands, using them to control the pad. We played a game against the consoles algorithm and then, taught her every control I knew of, slowly but surely, she was getting better and better, oh and no, I was not teaching her at super speed. We continued playing and she only got better and better, we were at the fifth game when we got a knock on the door. Mia got up and opened the door, it was Hitoshi, he told us his dad was calling I and Mia. I went back in to switch off the gaming console and we were on our way immediately, I wondered why he had called but oh hell, whoever knows. We got to the living room and Mr Hitoshi informed me that the (ISA) International Superhero Agency was now willing to give me my HAL (Hero Action License), even though I had not taking the HAL exams, and apparently, they were doing it as a public event at the city square in an event that would begin around eight pm. He then informed me and that while they were planning to give me the license, they need my hero name and also, they would need me to dress up, I should not come dressed up casually. I told him my hero name was the black knight and that as for what to wear, he should not worry, I had something spectacular to put on. He nodded to me and told me to get ready, it was accurately six thirty and we leave in an hour. I nodded but I had one question which I just had to ask, I wondered how they had known to call him in order to get in contact with me, he then informed me of the police report which stated that he was my guardian, I nodded and went to get ready. I for no reason took another bath and put out what I was going to put on. I brought out my black combat boots, a pair of black socks, black combat trousers, a black shirt that was long sleeved and had a high collar in the round neck fashion. I then brought out a black mask I got from sometime ago, it was a mouth mask but it covered the back of my hair, the side of my face and a little bit of my forehead, leaving only my ears and face out, I selected this particular mask because it thickened my voice and the dark teeth painted on it made it look terrifying, I would look cool as hell. I put everything on but nah, something still felt off, that’s when an idea struck me, I dragged my shirt up my forearm a little bit and put on some tactical gloves. I looked cooler but something still felt off and that’s when it came to me, I needed to put on my vest, I put on my black vest and voila, I looked as dangerous as possible. I was now dressed in all black and I looked great in it, I didn’t put my mask on though, I would not want to scare off the Hanagaki’s with my thick voice. I went into the living room and everyone was ready, wow, talk about surprising. The Italian beauty was also there, Felicia Bonnucci, she looked at me oddly, I guess because I was now living with the Hanagaki’s but whatever, man, f**k her. We were going in a convoy of five cars tonight, with the girls in one car and the boys in another, this man said a convoy of cars, he must mean a convoy of exotic cars because oh boy, these cars are the real deal. We got in and it was straight to the city’s square, the entire square had been decorated, wow, there were televisions everywhere talking about honouring the hero, the black knight, showing videos of my two heroic acts at the phone store and at the robbery location. Damn, I must have done something really special. As the event began, I saw a man that looked very familiar, I wanted to give him a handshake but Hitoshi nudged at me a little bit and I went some paces forward, I looked back and boom, he was gone, wow, just wow. I wondered who he was but I am not going to lie, he looked awfully way too familiar. The President of the ISA begun on his speech about me, he talked about a hero who stepped up in these dark times, he praised me as a hero who risks everything in order to save lives and I had done that without any calamities, he then called up the hero, the black knight to receive an honorary version of the Hero Action License and as I stepped up, people could only look in awe, I am sure that I legit definitely looked like a villain, especially with the mask I had on. I collected the license in a box and then, I thanked everyone while also promising to use my powers for good and to save lives, I also promised I would do my best to save lives without anyone coming to harm. I thanked the president of the ISA and as I was about heading back, the man I had seen earlier jumped on stage, and as the president looked on in terror, I came to an horrific realization, that was Genghis Kandhar, the leader of the dark phoenix, the most wanted man in the world, his super power was releasing golden flames that never run out until they had burnt his target to nothing but ash, as he stretched out to release his fire, I tossed the box containing my HAL to Hitoshi who grabbed it in shock and then, I ran towards Genghis and kicked him as hard as I could on his head, he tumbled away but it was too late, he had released his fire, I had to run faster than the fire and I achieved that running at my top speed as I carried the president up and dodged the fire, I thought I had succeeded but a little bit of the fire had stuck to my vest, I dumped the president beside Hitoshi and told him to protect him. I took off my vest and as I watched it burn, I was really really angry now. I went back on stage and saw Genghis already up, I ran towards him but I held back because I was trying to catch him, not kill him. I was also already getting tired, I had no more stamina. I hit Genghis but he only staggered back a little, he then showed me the limits of his own power, he started bullying me with some speed he had using his fire, he was also really strong, he was hitting me and although, it didn’t hurt me, it also probably wasn’t hurting him because his bones were not breaking, probably because I was holding my durability back significantly. I guess I could not hold back anymore, I kicked his left side and I heard his ribs fracturing as he flew away from the force of my kick, he coughed out blood but he was not done, he wanted more, he came at me with full force and speed but I simply got out of his way and grabbed his head with my left hand then, put him to the ground, head first, then the rest of his body. I stood up and watched him writhe in pain but he still was not done, he still got up and with a loud scream, he proceeded to lay fire on whoever was still at the square, before he could do that though, I pounced on him, as he was screaming, I hit him up in his lower jaw and you could sincerely hear his teeth smashing against each other as his lower jaw simultaneously fractured. I then held his outstretched hands and kicked his chest violently but I probably should have held back, because his arms tore away from his shoulders as his body flew far away from me and his arms. I flew over to him but he was unresponsive and bleeding profusely, I looked back and saw spectators cheering and that was when it hit me, I had done nothing special, it was just that in a world of superpowers, with so many villains and so little heroes, people needed someone to believe in and the ISA thought I was that person. Almost everyone had left, even Hitoshi and the president had gotten to safety, the only people here were journalists and camera men and as I looked on, I saw that police officers had also now come into the fray. I looked on but my sight got blurry and I simply just passed out from probably overusing my powers. I woke up back at the hospital, and the entire Hanagaki family was right beside me, apparently, they had been worried about me and the doctor said I was very tired, almost like I had not slept in days and since they could not inject me, they had just let me rest it out till I woke up. I looked at them and with tears in my eyes, I thanked them for taking such good care of me, but then, Mia burst into tears and told me no, thank you for protecting us, she then hugged me tightly and told me she loved me, I told her I loved her too but she said not too, I had to love her more, more than anything that would ever happen, I told her yeah, and told her I loved her more than anything. Mr Hitoshi just looked at me and smirked, then, Hitoshi burst into tears and apologized for not helping me out, he told me he was sorry he froze up but that he was scared and he just could not get his body to move, I laughed and told him that was fine, I mean come on, that’s just fine right? Felicia then told me to just be fine okay and then, I asked about Genghis and they mentioned that he was in the intensive care unit, apparently, I had beaten him up quite badly, in all honesty, he was actually lucky to be alive, according to Hitoshi anyways. Hitoshi then told me, oh and Liam, you simply get more famous every time, I asked him what he meant and boom, he put on the television and I was on every channel, literally every channel. You would see headlines like The Black Knight to the rescue again, The Black Knight takes care of The Leader Of The Dark Phoenix, The Black Knight does it again, I could go on and on but I am sure you got the gist, I then asked how long I had been out, they mentioned that I had been asleep for a little under five days and I had done so without taking in anything, they had wanted to force feed me smoothies but the doctor had advised against it because my results showed that I was perfectly fine and hydrated, just tired, he hypothesised that it was a probably a perk of my superpower. The doctor came in and after checking on me, he discharged me and as we were heading out, the commissioner of police thanked me for my heroics, he informed me that when Genghis wakes up, he will be questioned but, he warned that I should be careful, I was now probably number one on the to kill list of the dark phoenix and I had to be exceptionally careful. He said that and with that said, we were on our way home, I informed Mr Hitoshi that I would like to visit my mom first and he agreed that we would branch at the hospital she was in. I wondered if this was what the superhero life was like, one is in the hospital facing potential and one is facing life as usual, a state of eat or be eaten but I guess that was simply just LIFE…………………………………
