Chapter 2

“No, please mom, don’t leave me again. I need you, Mom,” Olivia screamed as she woke up. Her body was trembling. She reached for her phone and checked the time. She looked through the window; it was dark outside. She went downstairs and found Grayson and Emily eating dinner. “Emily, I think we should get going. Can I sleep at your place tonight?” Olivia inquired, carrying a bag and a suitcase. Olivia didn’t understand why Emily was eating dinner with her husband, but she didn’t dare to ask.

“She is not going anywhere,” Grayson uttered, cutting a piece of steak. “What? Why?” Olivia exclaimed. “Don’t tell me she is too dumb to see what’s going on,” Emily said as she let out an evil laugh. “Can anyone tell me what is going on?” Olivia inquired, walking toward them. “I just told you now Emily is not going with you,” Grayson shouted. He stood from his seat and approached Olivia. “Why?” Olivia inquired, taking a step back. “Emily is my lover, I left you for her,” Grayson announced. He grabbed Olivia’s wrist. These words were tearing through Olivia’s heart. “What?” Suddenly, the memory of her dream came back after hearing this. Tears streamed down her face. “Why? Wasn’t I doing enough?” Olivia inquired; her heart raced. “Emily, I trusted you. How could you do this to me?"

She shouted, her voice cracked. Olivia was shocked and hurt. She couldn't hold herself. “I am sorry, I want to be with Emily, not you. Sorry for wasting your time,” Grayson murmured, looking into Olivia’s eyes. “I’ll tell you my secret,” Emily said. “What secret?” Olivia inquired, her eyes widened. “I am pregnant with Grayson’s baby,” Emily said as she stood from her seat. “Yohhh! How long have you been sleeping with my husband?” Olivia broke free from Grayson and approached Emily. She pulled her hair and pushed her down. Grayson moved her away from Emily. She fell on the ground sobbing.“Do you want to know the reason why I decided to divorce you?” Grayson grabbed her wrist. Olivia wiped tears from her face. “I want those divorce papers signed by next week.” Grayson grabbed her hand and threw her out of his mansion, then he instructed Dan to bring Olivia’s belongings. Olivia wanted to disappear into thin air; she felt humiliated.

“I will let everyone know that you are infertile. No man will want to be with you.” Grayson leans close enough to make sure the threat reaches her ears. “Grayson, when did you become ruthless?” She inquired with a trembling voice. Grayson didn’t respond. He walked back inside his mansion. Olivia went to a nearby hotel to spend the night. The following day, she took a taxi to her parents' house, as this was the only inheritance they had left for her. The house was still the same as before, only loneliness filled it. When she arrived, she went straight to bed. The whole week, Olivia stayed indoors. Time flew, and two weeks had passed. Olivia finally decided to go out even though she was running out of money.

She dragged her feet on the floor walking to the bathroom. She turned on the shower and let the cold water touch her trembling body. After cleaning herself, she walked to her closet and picked up an outfit, a brown shirt, and blue jeans. She stood in front of the mirror and gazed at herself. “I will show Grayson that I won’t go quietly." She said, After fixing her outfit, she combed her hair, making it fall freely. She wore white sneakers and carried her bag. She wasn’t a fan of heels. “I needed to get something to eat. I am starving.” As she walked to the door, she searched her bag for the last cash she had. Only USD 200, this won’t last for two days. She thought sadly. "At least I still have his credit cards. I will order my favorite steak and get some groceries for dinner,” she uttered, a smile appearing on her face. After five minutes, she stood at the edge of the road waiting for a taxi to arrive. A taxi appeared a distance away, and she began to wave. “Take me to the most expensive restaurant,” she said to the driver as she got inside a taxi.
