Her scent. this is it. It's her. This is my mate. "Our mate is here", cried my wolf.
A woman, breathless and terrified, stumbled through the underbrush, I could hear the growls of some creatures chasing her, their eyes glowing from the shadows.
I will kill them all before I let them touch her. It seemed like her strength was fading, her legs were threatening to give way, thank the goddess I found her in time. And now I'll make sure these lycans regret attacking my woman.
With a fierce snarl, Cain charged at the lycans pursuing her, his claws slashing through the air. The wolves hesitated, sensing the danger from the powerful lycan, but they were too slow. In seconds, he had torn through their ranks, scattering them like leaves in a storm. His anger clouding his vision. There were too many. How could eight damn lycans chase after a single woman. And from the scent on her. They have enjured her badly, she was bleeding, she was scared and no one knows what would have happened if he wasn't here.
He felt some relief when he was done with them. Now he could tend to his woman, stake his claim and take her home with him.
Panic rose in him when he couldn't see here near. Where is she? Why did she continue running? Didn't she feel me? "She was scared of the other guys","she needed to run, and probably hid from them". Said his lycan in his head. We haven't learnt her name yet and he's defending her like he's known her for years.
When I caught up to her I found her on the ground. Her injuries look so severe.
The woman, still trembling. Her breath caught in her throat as she stared at me with wide fearful eyes. Doesn't she feel the pull? Doesn't she know I'm only here to protect her?
“You’re safe now,” he tried to reassure her, with the calmest voice possible.
She didn’t speak. The lycan knelt down in front of her, his massive form shielding her from any further harm.
Cain worked swiftly, though, his movements efficient and sure. He carefully shifted the branch from her leg, freed her foot, while she barely flinched. It seems she was in no state to protest.
He slipped his arms around her, pulling her into his chest as gently as he could. As he lifted her, he heard a sigh and saw her eyes close shut. It seems she passed from the pain.
"Shh. It’s okay," he murmured, his voice a soothing rhythm. "I’ve got you. You’re going to be fine."
His steps were steady, sure, though Every step felt like a lifetime, he needed to get her to safety so he could tend to her enjuries. he needed to take her home.
"My name’s Cain" he spoke to her. Knowing she wouldn't hear him, still, "You’re going to be okay, just stay with me"
He wanted to here her voice, to know why she was there, why were these men chasing her. But it didn’t matter now. He was here, and she was no longer alone. And he'll find answers to these questions when she recovers.
Without another word he led her out of the forest, away from the danger and into a cabin he knew would be safe.
