66 Adam could feel his pulse’s labor all through his body. Each beat was like a drum reverberating under water. The air was warm and wet, like a rainforest entering his lungs. But he was so cold. Any movement was a monumental effort. Every time he pried his eyelids apart, their weight brought them back down.
