CHAPTER 7 The first killNeil was relieved to see that they turned south in search of Jan Thorenson. They had arrived at Thorenson’s village in the rain and they left it in the rain, cold soaking rain mixed with sleet. Baldur had found out that there were some caves in the south east, in a mountain range beyond the glacier, where Jan Thorenson and his band of robbers were known to have a hideout. The axe with its beautiful inlaid handle and embossed blade was now strapped on to Baldur’s saddle. He was humming a tune as he left the village behind and looked happier than Neil had seen him since he had discovered his father’s death. The journey south was a rough one. The torrential rain in the night and the steady rain of the day brought the rivers down in flood, and they could not go back
