Chapter 020

Adrain's pov Something flickered in the principal's eyes as I spoke. He seemed indifferent to what I was telling him which confirmed my thoughts. The only thing he cared about was money. He didn't care if a student was being bullied into silence by the child of one of the school's funding support system as long as it kept the school running and brought more money to him, he would treat students like Elsie like a second thought and turn a blind eye to whatever predicament they were going through. "That is not enough reason to beat a student in the manner which you did, Adrain. And for that, you will be severely punished." Nothing would have prepared me for what the principal said next. He didn’t seem concerned at all about Elsie. It was against the school's policy for a student to be bullied, yet the principal seemed fine with that. Who in the school would dare to bully students like Ryan? No one would. They would immediately have their admission withdrawn and be expelled from the school. But I had the upper hand in this situation, and I was willing to yield it, even it would be bring justice to Elsie, and serve as a means for me to escape being punished. "Well, then, I'll have to inform my father that my sister is being bullied and I'm getting punished because i stood up for her." I watched the principal crumble in his seat. My father had made huge donation to the school. He still made his monthly donations to the school which was part of what kept the school running. "If you think you can escape punishment, young man, then you're in the wrong." He said, wagging a finger at me. "I deserve the punishment, but you don't you think my father deserves to know that his daughter is being bullied, and nothing is being done. And on top of that, she's being forced to tutor her biggest bully." The principal gritted his teeth. He was breaking under pressure. I smiled inwardly. A little more and he would be excusing me from his office and punishing the same student I had beaten up, since he couldn't lay a finger on Ryan. "You are still going to get punished for almost killing a student. But as for your sister..." I watched him swallow as though what he was about to say was a hard decision he just made. "She will stop tutoring Ryan." "And what will happen to Ryan for spreading lies against her?" I asked. "He's already being punished for that." He pointed out. "That's not right sir. You're not punishing Ryan by making Elsie to stop tutoring him, you're liberating her...something that should have been done a long time ago. Instead, you doubled down and made her tutor him on weekends." The principal clenched his teeth harder, "Fine, I'll make sure Ryan apologises to her in front of the entire school and punish him right after that." I knew that last part was a lie. He would never punish Ryan but as long as he made Ryan apologise to Elsie, I was fine. "You've always been a man of your words sir. And I'm sure Elsie would be glad to learn of this new arrangement." "You can leave. Your punishment will be communicated and commence shortly." The principal said. I bowed my head slightly and walked out of the office. I could hear him cursing under his breath as i left. I could tell that he was displeased with the decisions he was taking. I went straight to my next class. I had hoped to see Elsie on my way to the class so I could tell her about the new changes, but I didn't see her. Eventually, she would get to know about it. The whispers were not ending at anytime soon. Everywhere I went, student seemed to dread to want to come close to me. "He literally beat up that student till he almost died." "Yes, I heard that the principal had called him into his office." I scoffed at what they were saying. They were all making it sound as though I did too much, when the only thing I did, was to punch him in the jaw and headbutt him. He should have taken the beating like a man that he was, since he liked picking on girls. After the school day was over, I was heading over to the garage when someone accosted me. "Adrian, why are you in such a hurry to go back home?" Sophia asked me. "I have some uhm errands to attend to back at home." I said to her. "I heard what happened this morning. Why did you do it?" She asked, grabbing the sides of my arms. "He was picking on my sister, i had no other choice." "Of course you had other choices, you could have chosen to just walk away." "Walk away? My sister was getting bullied, she was injured and you're telling me I should have walked away instead?" "She's your step sister!" I stared down at Sophia in disbelief. "I have to leave now. Goodbye, Sophia." I said and was about to walk away when she held onto my arm. "But we already made plans, my love. We were supposed to be together today after school, you promised." "Sorry about that. Something important came up, so I have to attend to it." I said promptly and shook her hand off me before walking off. Fortunately, she didn't come after me. Elsie was already waiting by my bike. She'd had her wound bandaged already. "I heard you were called into the principal's office. You really didn't need to take that much risk for me." "I was standing up for you. No one is going to bother you again and that's a promise." She sighed heavily, "I hope so. Can you, uhm ride me to Ryan's house?" "There would be no need for that."
