Unforseen Destiny

CHAPTER V

ALEX

It's Saturday night. I had to meet up with James in the next 30 minutes. We are hanging out at our favorite bar.

Lian's bar. That's the name. Lian's is the owner of the expensive and exclusive bar. Its a two storey building. It's well known.

Lian is one of my close friend. He's very friendly and welcoming. He was also there for me just like James during my Up's and down's. It's nice having wonderful and trustworthy friends.

He once told.me that there were reasons why he named is bar after himself which was not why he wanted to name it at first. But he never told any one the reasons, not even me! Mysterious, right?

His story is quite thrilling, tragic and mysterious. He went through a lot of things. He experienced little or no happiness.

For some of the horrible things he went through and the reasons why, he never got to their root, up till today.

The most important part was that he doesn't know his parents, since he never met them. All he knows is that he had been living with stranger who took care of him to be used for an experiment later on, though he escaped. How sad.

He comes in handy, when I need any form of information. He's useful, though, very expensive. But he knows, no matter the cost, I can afford it. It seems I sound a little bit heartless.

He actually helped alot, especially when we needed evidence for the case of my past secretary.

That aside. That's the past, let's focus on the present and prepare for the future. That's all I want to keep in mind now.

As my mind wondered around, lost in thoughts, I lost count of time. I had a glimpse of the clock and OMG... I was so late. James is gonna roast me alive.

I rushed upstairs to get dressed. I dressed in a casual wear not too formal and not too ordinary. Always keeping my cool you know.

I went out of my house, with the door locking immediately I closed it after stepping out. I rushed to the garage and got into my car. I had to pick James up on my way. He never drives when we plan to hang out.

Just as I drove out of the drive way, he called. I'm so dead!

' Hey Alexandra. Where on earth are you? '

James saying my full name instead of Alex, means he's really upset.

' I'm sorry James. I'm on my way. I'll arrive soon '

' You had better be quick or else..'

He hung up on me. I got goosebumps thinking of the punishments I always receive when I delay him . I had to get to his house, quick and fast.

He has his own car.But he kept saying he's too lazy to drive. Since he's asking for lift, is he suppose to be angry? What a pain!

As soon as I parked at the front of his gate, James came out and kept glaring at me. That made me shiver. He entered into my car and was silent.

' I'm really sorry. I wasn't conscious of time. I'll make it up to you. I'll pay for tonight. So enjoy yourself to the fullest.'

James was still sulking so he didn't reply.

' You know I won't keep you waiting on purpose. I'm sorry it was not intentional.'

' whatever. As long as you pay. We're cool '

James. I know my way of buying him. Paying for every single thing he wants and buying him desserts. The funniest thing is, I'm the only one he allows to spoil him this way.

Attimes, he's a pain in the neck, but I'm used to it now.

We arrived at Lian's bar. As soon as the door opened, loud music bursts out. We entered quickly, allowing the door to close behind us.

The building was sound proof. It is required to keep the environment peaceful and quiet, as it was late at night. That way no one is being offended, and no one would have an excuse of reporting to the police for noice pollution.

We already made reservations. So we headed to our spot. It was the topmost part of the bar.

It is surrounded by glass which gives you a wonderful view of the city. its much more peaceful than the first two floors. Lian was already waiting when we got to our table. We are going to have a trio - bachelor party.

We settled down and we begin our mini party. At first, we talked about work. Suddenly, James remembered what we discussed at work earlier that week.

He gave Lian full details, and together, they lashed me with words. I didn't fight back, just remained quiet.

So they just kept going on and on and on until James raised the issue about Nikki - very interesting girl

' Lian, can you imagine it? He says it's love at first sight. I got goosebumps thinking about it '

' Right James, it nice though. After the sudden disappearance of your ex. You found another. You might not want to talk about it. Let's save it for another day. Whatever step to take is up to you. '

' Right. But I have a question for you Alex. Let's say Nikki finally accepts you and you like each other.

Then your ex returns claiming she still loves you and wants you guys to get back together. What will you do? Who will you pick? '

' Yes Alex, James is right to ask this question. But if that time really comes, what will you do?

You have to make a very accurate decision or you won't like the outcome. It's up to you. But, we would be here for you and also to give you advice.'

' I know you guys would always be there. The thing is, I have actually thought of the question several times.

But, I keep hoping it never happens, so, right now, I don't know. I was trying to assure myself saying I'll go for Nikki, but you know anything can happen right? '

' Thats true. Let's hope that day never comes, but if it did come, we are here for you. Never forget that! Cheers to your new happiness Alex '

' Cheers '

We drank to our sorrow and happiness. We talked for hours until it was midnight. We were so drunk we almost couldn't move except for Lian though. He still had to attend to something's after partying with us, so he drank a little.

Fortunately, Lian knew this would happen, so he already made preparation for us to stay tonight, before going home tomorrow.

James and I passed out immediately we laid on our beds. What a night. One of the memorable ones.

As soon as I fell asleep I had a nightmare. Maybe, because I kept thinking about the possibility of my ex coming back.

But what I saw in my dreams made we wish for her not to come back. I saw my self drowning after refusing to sign the transfer paper and then I got into a comma. Its like she came back to destroy me and take all I have.

It's a horrible dreams. I woke up with sweat all over me. I got up to dress well before waking James up. It was war, it seems he is not a morning person during the weekends when there's no work on that day.

As soon as I dropped James at his house, I drove home and settled in for a cold shower to clear my thoughts.

But I kept recalling my nightmare. The worst part is, anything I dreamt about always came to pass. The thought of it happening made me shiver.

For the first time ever, I wished she never came back. All of a sudden, my memories with her came rushing in.

At the very beginning, when we first met, it was her clouding over me. She's very clingy, the emotional type, very demanding and a loving girl.

Anyways, I gave her what she wanted, except my fragile and bloody heart. I was too scared to fall in love, not because I hated her but one of the reason is that its a forced relationship.

Another reason is most people approached me because they want something from me not because they truly want me.

After more than 2 years together, and she still claim to love me. Just when I thought I'll try loving her, she disappeared. A part of me is somewhat thankful for not falling for her.

Immediately she left, our communication sized. The thought of her coming back with what I saw in my dream, made me sick and gloomy.

Though, that was in the past, it taught me a valuable lesson. From then onwards, I locked my heart away.

It was tightly locked until I met Nikki. I tried suppressing it, but I didn't success. So I just let I be. But I won't give in that easily.

My mind went back to the nightmare I had. I was scared and worried. I needed someone to talk to, but who? I already talked to James and Lian, why does sit still feel like I couldn't tell them everything?

I had a meeting in the afternoon, so I still have lots of time to spear.

My mind wondered back to Nikki, when we first meet and our encounter at the interview. It's cute and funny. It lifts my mood.

Nikki. The beauty goddesses. I lost the key to the lock of my heart after meeting her.

I really hope she likes me. I'll hit on her. I made up my mind to pursue her, but I really hope to win her over before my next birthday or I'll have to suffer from the torture mom lectures about getting married gives me.

As soon as I finished bathing, I went downstairs to eat and rest a little. I had an hour to spear before the meetI ng. Looking back at my past actually causes a lot of headaches and I hate to talk about it.

Time passed. As I was about to leave home for the meeting, I got a call from my mom. Speaking of the devil...hehehe

' Hey darling, how are you? '

' I'm good mum. How are you and your sweetheart? '

' We are doing fine. I called to remind you about your grand dad birthday. I hope you didn't forget? '

' I didn't forget mom. I'll be there. I have a meeting now. I'll talk to you later. Bye Mom '

' Bye son '

Grand dad birthday is soon. How could I forget. I left for the meeting and worked till late at night. I wanted to keep my mind busy.

I fell asleep immediatly I laid on my bed to retire for the night. I had a wonderful dream about Nikki. That made my day.
