CHAPTER 002 Alpha Aiden Anna pov The ride to the Alpha King’s pack house was long and silent. The man who had picked me up - whose name I later learned to be Bronson and he was the Commander of the Alpha King’s army - did not say two words to me. He was always on his tablet though or on call with who I assumed to be the Alpha King. We had long since left my father’s pack behind and my feeling of anxiety quadrupled. I was leaving hell to uncharted territories which might be worse than hell. I always thought of leaving the pack but I never expected it to be this way. The only certain thing in my life was that, nothing in my life was certain. Anything happened at any time and I moved with it. After three days of travelling - all hopes of escaping and returning home having been shattered - the car slowed in front of a house that was ten times the size of our pack house back at home. “Welcome to Coarshire pack house.” Bronson announced as the car pulled to a stop. He came out of the car first, turning to my side to help me out as well. “You know the rules of this territory, right?” I nodded. Everyone knew the rules of the Alpha King’s territory. It was not a territory was the first rule. Pack businesses ended where the borders started and werewolves were equal once they set foot in here, except well for those who were at the top of the food chain. They were never equal with anyone. In other words, Coarshire was a free city and everyone was welcomed. Too bad my first time here had to be like this. Taking Bronson’s hand, I allowed him to lead us inside the luxurious pack-house or should I say mansion. Before we got to the entrance, I was nauseous and by the time we stopped in front of a large oak wood door, I was breaking out in cold sweat. “This is where I leave you.” Bronson said, slowly letting go off my hand. “The Alpha King is behind those doors. Don’t worry, he is expecting you.” Without giving me a chance to say something, Bronson turned and was gone. Swallowing, I took a deep breath in, rested my clammy hands on the door knob and twisted. The door opened slowly, and I braced my self, closing my eyes and counting to ten. A method which I always used to combat my nerves when they were a wreck, not that it ever worked. I sucked in a heavy breath, then opened my eyes again. A man sat behind mahogany desk, watching me with a scowl on his face. His scalding gaze burned through me and I immediately lowered my head. I did not need to be told that I was looking at the Alpha King. His aura in the room alone was enough to suffocate me to submission. My heart raced with excitement, trepidation and anxiety and my sweaty palm pulled at the helm of my dress. My skin crawled, my skin turned a shade darker and I finally realized I could not move from the spot I was standing. When he spoke, I felt like my body was being commanded to listen and obey his every words. “You’re Anna?” His voice overwhelmed me. For a minute or two, time stopped. Nothing else mattered but the man before me. Deafening silence spread thin in the space between us. If a pin fell, the sound would have echoed through the room, that and the sound of my racing heart. I gritted my teeth, biting hard on my bottom lip before supplying a reply to his question. “Yes.” I answered hurriedly, lowering my head even more. My voice came out as a coarse whisper but I was sure he heard me clearly. “Ah. And I was beginning to think they sent me a dumb bride.” Layla was wrong. The Alpha King had no scars and he was not ugly. No, he was the very definition of beautiful and rugged perfection. His face was angular and chiseled, showing off his strong jawlines and high cheekbones which would put some women to shame. His chestnut brown hair was neatly trimmed and combed back but a few unruly strands fell across his forehead, sitting just above bushy but trimmed brows. And his body - his body was a work of art, literally. Tattoos decorated his skin from his chest to his wrist - at least, the skin I could see where he rolled his sleeves and he was tanned. It spoke of hours and hours of gym and workout that I could never achieve. “Sit.” He growled, startling me out of my daze. Nodding, I took the seat across him, taking swallowing bouts of air to calm my racing heart. “You are not at all what I expected.” An image of my perfect and graceful sister immediately popped up in my vision. If I hadn’t been forced to take her place, she would have been here instead. Would he have liked her? Would he have showed a little more emotion and pretended to actually be happy she was here? I shook my head, ridding myself of the thoughts. I was here, not her. I was going to be mated to this man while she took my true mate and made him hers. I was yet to ascertain if it was a fair deal or not. “You know why you are here?” he asked while flipping through pages of a document on his desk. “To be your bride and fill the position of the Luna.” I answered. His head snapped up with such speed that I was sure I heard his bones c***k. His gray eyes bored into me, his nose flared and the pen in his hand fell to the table followed by a thundering sound of his fist meeting the same table. I shuddered, shivered then jumped to my feet, eyes wide with fear. “Did I say something wrong?” “Everything!” he growled. “No one can fill the position of my Luna. No one, not even a small fly like you. Do you understand?” I nodded my head vigorously. “Yes, yes, I do.” “You are here to fulfil all righteousness and are mistaken if you think you can be my bride or fill the role of my Luna.” Grabbing the document from his desk, he threw them at me. With trembling hands, I reached down, picking each one of the paper which had flown in all direction. Maybe Layla had been right about one thing. The Alpha King was a cold, mean man and my life was about to be turned upside down. “What is this?” I managed to ask with a shaking voice once I was done putting the document back together. “That is a contract and the rules which will govern you while you are in my house.” he snarled. I glanced from the papers in my hands to his angry face. My life was really about to end. “What?”
