Chapter Fourteen: Bringing in Fall

    Monday morning,  I arrived at the bakery extra early and immediately went to work. Bringing the Fall flavors into my creations. By the time I was done baking it was 6:15 so I had 15 minutes to get all of the baked goods into the display cases. Just as I started taking everything out into the front Jane came rushing in and put on her apron. 

    "Sorry I'm late!" She said and kissed my cheek.

    "It's okay I got everything baked," I smiled and handed her trays to carry to the front. We got everything situated in the display in record time. I ran to the windows and raised the blinds to let in the early morning light, and turned the Open sign. I walked outside and looked in. It looked like a hobby store with all the pretty Fall decorations in it. Taking my phone out of my back pocket to take a picture. The subtle lighting inside made the window display look rustic and created just the right aesthetic. Posting it on i********: I smiled. When I turned around to head inside, a sheriff's cruiser came rolling to a stop and my heart beat faster when Morgan got out.

    "Good Morning beautiful," He said as he wrapped his arm around my waist and pulled me in close for a kiss.

    "Good Morning Deputy," I smiled up at him. "Ready for breakfast?"    

    "Yes ma'am," He smiled and we walked in.

    Jane was standing at the counter with a confused look on her face and looked back and forth between us. She opened her mouth to say something but stopped, I'm pretty sure she had a lot going on through her mind right now.

    "Morning Jane," Morgan said and went to set down at a table. I walked up to her behind the counter and nudged her, whispering to close her mouth before she started catching flies. I made a plate for Morgan and took it back to him setting it on the table in front of him. 

    "Enjoy handsome, I got to get back to work before more people show up, I'll be in the kitchen so come back before you leave," I smiled and touched his back as I walked away, grabbing Janes arm and dragging her into the kitchen behind me.

    "Speak," I said and looked at her.

    "How? When? What?" was all she managed to get out, and so I told her all about Friday night, well Saturday morning after he got me from the bar.

    "Wow, so it really was just a huge misunderstanding?" she asked and I nodded. "Well good for you then babe, you deserve something awesome, also when you were outside standing admiring your work I went to take a picture of you but I ended up snapping a pic of you too kissing and holy sh*t it is such a cute picture.." she pulled out her phone to show me, In the picture I was standing there with Morgan his one arm around me as he leaned down to kiss me, the morning sun rising behind us and the hanging leaves in the window display made a subtle frame, it was beautiful. I sent the picture to myself from her phone and smiled. She leaned against the stainless steel counter. "So are you guys like official or what?" 

    "Honestly I have no clue, but for now I'm just gonna go with the flow of it and see where it leads," I smiled. The bell on the counter out in the front dinged and Jane fixed herself then headed out to our first costumer of the day. I started icing cookies that were finally cooled down enough that the royal icing wouldn't fall off, making cute leaves, and pumpkins on them. After 15 minutes passed Morgan finally came into the back. "How was your breakfast?" I asked looking at him from where I was standing.

    "Absolutely delicious," he smiled and walked over to me, "but you want to know what else is delicious?" 

    "What?" I said and c****d my head looking at him.

    "Your kisses," He kissed me passionately holding my head between his hands.

    "Mhm your lips taste good," I said tasting the coffee and pumpkin on them. He smiled and hugged me. 

    "I got to get going baby, sleep is calling me," he kissed me again after hugging me, waving goodbye as he walked out. I sighed happily and went back to work. 

    The day went on quickly after that and by 5 when the shop closed I even had a lot of the stuff ready to go for tomorrow too. So all I had to do was clean up. By 6 I was already out the back door after making sure every thing was locked up. Making it home before 7 for the first time in 5 years. As soon as I stepped in my door, I pulled out my phone to text Morgan.

    Me: Hey Handsome, I made it home from the bakery.

    Morgan Reed: Good baby I'm glad, I'm just getting to work, maybe I'll call you on my break in a couple hours if your still up.

    Me: Okay I'll try to stay up for a couple hours.

    I made myself a quick dinner and ate it, before heading up into the shower. Getting undressed I stepped into the shower as it was warming up. I lathered up really good and decided I would shave my legs. Spending a good 30 minutes in there since I wasn't in a rush. When I got out I wrapped a towel around me and went to the closet but exited when I heard my phone ringing. 

    "Hello," I answered.

    "Hey baby," Morgan said on the other end. "Quick question, did you head back to the shop?" 

    "No, I'm at home I just got out of the shower, why?" I asked sitting down on the bed.

    "Would Jane be there?" He asked.

    "No... Morgan.. What's going on?" I started panicking a little.

    "Well I drove by and the lights were on in the front, I thought it was weird because I know you turn them off at night right?"

    "Yes I always turn them off, even if I forget they are on a timer to turn off by 6, especially the front ones." Now I was getting dressed in the closet in sweats and a sweatshirt incase I needed to leave and head there.

    "Okay baby, I'm gonna go check it out then maybe the timer is off," He said.

    "Okay.. There is a hidden key if you need it just let me know," I said, and we hung up. I sat on the edge of my bed waiting in anticipation. 

    An hour had passed and I still hadn't heard back from Morgan. So I laid down curling up with my pillow setting my phone ringer on high just incase.
