I slammed the door behind me, using it as support as I leaned against it. My breathing was heavy and my vision blurry as the tears stung my eyes. Aunt Bridget rushed out of the kitchen, flour all over her face. If I wasn't so freaked out right now, I would've laughed at how ridiculous she looked. "Honey, are you okay? What happened?" She placed her hand on my cheek, forcing me to meet her gaze. "I... He..." She hushed me, pulling me into a hug. "Hush sweetie. Take a deep breath. Begin over." I take in a deep breath, calming down slightly. "He... He knows." She frowned down at me. "Who knows?" I clenched my fists and bit my bottom lip, feeling the anger bubbling inside me. "Max, the new kid in school. The dumb asshole thinks he knows everything!" I turned around, slamming my fist into the wall. A dent formed and some of the plaster fell to the floor. Aunt Bridget grabbed my arm, forcing me to look at her. "Watch your language young lady!"
I bit down on my tongue and averted my gaze to the ground. "Look, this Max boy probably knows nothing. He's probably just trying to get a reaction from you. And how do you even know he's talking about your vampirism?" Her words suddenly registered to me. He never did admit that he knew I was a vampire. How do I know he's not lying? I suddenly started laughing, feeling stupid for being worried about nothing. "Oh my gosh, you're right!" she smiled down at me, rolling her eyes. "Of course I am. Now go wash up, dinner is almost ready." I walked up the stairs, a new confident forming inside of me. Tomorrow I'll be ready. I won't hide away. I'll show him.

I woke up with a grin on my face. Today I was going to tell Max off. Today she was going to stand up for herself and she won't show him any fear. She quickly took a warm shower, letting the hot water run over her body, feeling the tension leaving her instantly. She made her way towards her closet after, deciding on a high-waisted skinny jean, a black crop top that read the following 'I solemnly swear I'm up to no good.' Cause hey! Why not? I was feeling confident today. I quickly tied the laces to my converse before rushing downstairs, yelling a quick goodbye to Aunt Bridget before I ran out, my bottle and leather jacket in hand. I decided on driving the motorcycle to school. It used to be my father's. I smiled fondly as the memories came to head of how my father would always drive me around town, just for the heck of it. Mom always freaked out about it, so scared that something would happen, but we always returned home safely.
I quickly pulled the helmet over my head, before driving off with a loud roar. When I drove into the parking lot, everyone stared my way. Definitely a nice way to make an entrance. I quickly parked and got off, my quest to find Max the main thought on my mind. I walked down the hall with my head held high. I finally spotted him, leaning against a locker, a group of four girls surrounding him. They giggled at something he said and I couldn't help but roll my eyes. Some girls are just way too easy. Sorry if that offended anyone but it the truth. I pushed past them before standing in front of him. I turned to look at them, my eyebrows raised. "Scoot girls. It's my turn to talk to this boy." They scoffed before turning on their heel, a look of disgust crossing over their faces. I rolled my eyes again before glaring at him. I seemed to do that a lot when he was around. "Good morning to you too Sophia."
I grabbed his shoulder and pushed him against the locker. He seemed surprised by the action, but quickly recovered it with a smirk. I pressed my finger against his chest, my anger shining through my eyes. "Look here Max, I don't know what your problem is with me, but you better quickly stop what you're doing and start leaving me alone. You hear me? I don't have time..." He suddenly grabbed me around the waist, spinning us around and pressing my against the lockers. He smashed his lips onto mine, taking me by surprise. He pressed his body against mine, his hands gripping onto my sides. Reality suddenly kicked in and I pushed him away.
The next thing I know, the sound of a slap fills the silent hallway as my palm connected to his cheek. His head whipped to the side and the red hand print forming on his cheek showed how much force I used. "How dare you! Who the hell gave you the right to just kiss me? You're unbelievable!" He rubbed his cheek, wincing slightly in pain, before a chuckle escaped his lips. I stared at him with wide eyes, shock taking over my features. What was wrong with him? "You've got some slap there, you know?" he gave me an embarrassed smile as he looked at me through his lashes. I glared at him, a deep frown on my lips. He sighed, holding out his hand. "I'm sorry Sophia, that was uncalled for. Can I make it to you by taking you out to lunch?" My mind was yelling at me to say no, that he was a jerk and would only try to hurt you, but apparently my body suddenly found a will of his own and before I could stop myself, my hand was busy shaking his. He smiled at me brightly and I only had one thought running through my mind.
'What have I gotten myself into?'
