I stayed far behind, jogging after his car that speed through the streets. Eventually, we weren't in the city anymore and we were on a dirt road leading to who knows where. He suddenly stopped in front of what seemed like an abandoned barnyard. I hid behind a bush, peeking through its branches. A tall guy who looked like an older version of Max, came through the large doors, a few super buff guys following him. He pulled Max into an awkward bro-hug, before they continued back inside. I quietly jogged forward and snuck my way into the barn. I sniffed the air, trying to catch their scent. They went left. I suddenly realised I probably looked and sounded like some sort of blood hound. Oh the irony.
I snuck further into the barn until hiding behind a large pile of haystacks, their figures in my sight. "Why is this taking so long brother?" the older-Max version talked, sounded irritated. "Don't worry Markus, I've got everything under control. I'm starting to gain her trust and once she fully trusts me, we'll go in for the attack." I frowned at what they said. Were they talking about me? I shook my head, suddenly not wanting to hear any of this anymore. I took a step back, my back hitting a wall. Wait a minute. I wasn't even close to a wall... I turned around, seeing a large, scary looking guy with a bald head and a scar over his right eye glaring down at me. His scowl quickly turned into an evil smirk when he realised something. "Look what we have here."
Before I know it, I was lifted over his shoulder, having a perfect few of his muscular back and flat ass. What? It's true. "Hey Boss! Look what I found lurking around in the shadows." the guy's deep voice boomed across the open space. I hit his back with all my might, trying to break free. "Let go of me, you bald freak!" the guy stopped in his steps, before letting go of me, dropping me. I groaned in pain as I landed hard on the ground. "Thanks." I replied sarcastically, causing the guy to scowl again. "Oh so you did bring the vampire? You've made me proud, brother. Your part of the mission is complete." I glanced between Max and his brother, Markus. What are they talking about? What mission? Could it... I gasped and my hands flew over my mouth. "Oh my... You're a vampire hunter aren't you?"
Max looked down, ashamed as Markus looked pleased, yet also impressed. "She's a smart one I see. And pretty. It's a shame we'll have to end her." My eyes grew big as I realised what was happening. Markus stepped forward, taking my chin in his hands. I growled and snapped at him. He quickly jumped back, a flicker of fear in his eyes before amusement replaced it. "Oh, she's a feisty one." His smirk made me want to squirm. He suddenly took out a large knife from behind his back, holding it in front of him. No way in hell did that thing fit in the back of his pants. If it were me, I would've chopped off my ass just trying to get it in there. A guy grabbed me from behind, lifting me up into the air. Markus stepped forward and lifted the knife above his head, ready to strike. This was the end. Today I was going to die.
I shut my eye tightly, just wanting it to end quickly. "WAIT!" Max's loud voice rang out through the barn. I opened one eye, seeing him stand there, his eyes closed and his fists clenched. This was it. He was going to save me. A small ray of hope came into my mind, but it was quickly demolished when his next words left his mouth. "We can use her. She's not like the others. She's different. She could be the answer we've been looking for." I stared at him, my mouth a gapped. I couldn't help the feeling of betrayal filling my heart. I should've known it was too good to be true. I clenched my fists, a sudden anger taking over my body. I will not be used as a test subject. No way in hell. I could feel my eyes glowing brighter as my anger seemed to fire up my vampire senses. An inhuman growl escaped my lips as I bared my teeth, showing off my sharp incisors.
I kicked the guy holding in the knee with all my might, forcing his knee back until it snapped. He screamed out in pain, dropping me to the ground. I gracefully landed on all fours as my predator senses took over. I saw three guys standing in front of me, all three of them at least 2 feet taller than me and much more muscular. I smirked at them, a plan forming in my now twisted little mind. I charged towards them, taking them by surprise. They quickly reached for their weapons, but it was too late. I skid underneath the guy in the middle's legs, before quickly jumping back on my feet and making a run for it. "Sophia!" I heard Max call for me, but I didn't dare look back. I just continued running away from the one thing that seemed to truly make me happy. The one thing that hurt me deeply.
