I stared up at the large grey building standing before me. It's been quite a while since I've been here. I let out a heavy sigh before slowly walking towards the double doors. From the corner of my eye, I saw the students that were scattered outside stopped what they were doing to stare at me.
"Who's the new girl?"
"Oh my gosh! Is that Sophia Cardison?!"
"Damn I thought she was cute before."
"She's hot!"
That last comment got the guy a smack over the head by who I assume is his girlfriend. I chuckled softly to myself. I guess beauty is one of the vampiric traits I got. I shake my head, the smile never leaving my face as I made my way towards my locker. As I packed my books into my locker and bag, I felt someone sneaking up behind me. "Hello Riley." I didn't look at her, but I knew from the gasp that it was her. Another vampiric trait. "How did you know it was me?!" I laughed, shutting my locker before turning towards her, giving her a smirk. "I know you better than you know yourself Riley." she went to say something, but quickly closed her mouth, a thoughtful look on her face. "That is true..." I chuckled and she smiled softly at me, before everything turned serious. "Soph... I've heard what happened. Are you okay?" I sighed. I knew this was going to happen, I knew someone would ask, I guess I just hoped that no one really would.
I looked at her and gave her a sad smile. "Yeah, I'm coping..." she gave me a tight hug and when she pulled away, she didn't press the matter any further. That's why I loved her. Even though she is super loud and loves to party, she always knows when to quiet down and show some sympathy. We walked to class in silence. As the door opened, I stopped dead in my tracks. A disturbing, yet pleasing scent came through the door towards me. I knew that smell. Cinnamon and aftershave. I clenched my fists and slowly walked into class. My gaze almost immediately fell on him, only to see him already staring at me. Guess he knew I would be coming. Riley noticed our little stare off, but must've missed the daggers I was sending his way because she let out a little giggle. "That's Max Cooper. Isn't he hot?" I hummed at her, searching for an open spot that wasn't anywhere near him.
To my luck, not, the only open seats left were around him. I groaned to myself before making my way towards it. "Great." Riley gave me a mischievous smile, gesturing for me to sit right next to. "You'll thank me later." My mouth hung a gap as she sauntered to the other side of the room, flirting with a guy who quickly offered her his seat. I shook my head, smiling at her well-known move she pulled to get what she want. She was gorgeous, with her long straight ash blonde hair falling past her hips and her crystal blue eyes always sparkling as she smiled. Her fair skin seemed flawless and her heart-shaped made her seem sweet and innocent. It was kind of obvious why boys usually threw themselves her way. I sat down, not daring to look at Max, even though I felt his gaze burn holes into the back of my skull. I pulled my books out and stared forward. I tried to stay strong and keep my gaze off of him, but the curious side in my that seemed to desire just one glance won. I let my gaze wonder in his direction and got captivated in the most beautiful forest green eyes. We seemed to stare intently at each other, not one daring to look away. Luckily, the trance was broken when the teacher finally decided to grace us with her presence. I sighed loudly, the feeling of his gaze on me never leaving. This is gonna be a long day.
My stomach growled as I made my way towards the cafeteria, a small lunch bag and bottle in my hand. I was super irritated. Apparently Max and I had almost every class together and although he may be super hot (Not gonna lie about the obvious), he was incredibly annoying. I slammed my bottle onto the table and fell into the chair, an annoyed groan escaping my lips. "Damn girl! You've barely been here for half a day and already you look like you're about to rip someone's head off." I glared at Kasey who sat across me, an amused look on her face. Her dark mahogany skin almost seemed to sparkle in the sun that streamed through the window and her full and plum lips formed a mischievous smirk. Her rich chocolate coloured eyes smiled at me through long lashes. I rolled my eyes, glaring at Riley. "This mood I am in now, is all your fault." Riley held her over her chest, pretending to be hurt. "How could that possibly be possible? I wasn't even in half of your classes, but I heard someone was." she wiggled her eyebrows suggestively at me and I threw her with a grape.
I chewed slowly on my grapes, every now and then taking a sip of my 'juice'. I know what you're thinking, 'How is it that a vampire can eat human food without getting physically sick?' Well, I actually have no idea how it's actually possible, exactly the same as to how I have no idea how I can walk in the sun without burning to ashes, but I guess the books and movies have been lying to us. The girls chatted away as I stared at the wall behind them, not really interested in their gossip. Suddenly their voices became mute as they stared behind me. I slowly turned around, staring straight into a hard and muscular chest. My gaze lifted upwards and I groaned even louder this time, seeing Max standing behind me, a smirk plastered on his face. "Mind if I sit here?" Kasey bit her bottom lip seductively and Riley eagerly agreed, sending a wink my way. He sat down then glanced towards me, holding his hand out. "Hi, I'm Max." I glared at his hand, wishing lasers would shoot from my eyes. "Her name's Sophia. Sorry she's a little shy." I lifted my eyebrow at Riley before scoffing. "No I'm not. I just don't like creeps." Riley and Kasey gasped. "Sophia!" their voices resounded in unison. Max chuckled. "I see you don't seem to have a filter... I like it." I gave him the stink eye before I abruptly stood from the table. "Well Max," I spat his name out like venom. "I don't like you." I quickly grabbed my bottle before spinning around on my heel and storming out of the cafeteria.
