CHAPTER XX IARBAS After the last meeting at Dido’s palace, Iarbas brooded over yet another rejection of his marriage offer to the queen. However, he was not allowed the time to dwell on his feelings for too long; affairs of the tribe took up much of his day, and a small skirmish between Tjehenu and Libo tribesmen caused him to travel to a remote oasis to sort out the dispute. Iarbas arrived at the oasis at dusk, surrounded by his warriors. As usual, he mingled with them so that he was indistinguishable from the others, except for the two feathers hanging at his neck. The chief and his men circled the encampment, and on the far side, discovered a Libo staked to the ground, lazily guarded by two Tjehenu.
