AENEAS HEARS FROM THE GODS

The confrontation between the Trojans and our Carthaginian soldiers caused repercussions throughout the city. The Trojans, who had become used to roaming freely, now stayed close to their camp on the shore. The incident worked to further isolate Dido and Aeneas. Our once popular queen became more and more estranged from her people. Achates was rarely seen in public and never without a guard. Berytus was held under house arrest for several weeks, still wanting to get his hands on the youth. The senator finally left on a sea voyage with Uttar, after Festus promised that soldiers would be posted at his business and residence until he returned.
