"Take a left at Colfax Avenue, in 1000ft, your destination is on the right." Our GPS announced. We turned left at the light and drove down the road. I've only seen pictures of this new mansion. It was recently purchased and refurbished so we had a head quarters in the city so we weren't so far away if a team needed assistance on a mission. Its a bit more risky as we are in the middle of potential supernatural activity but at the same time, if they found our hideout, they would know our presence would be close by and wouldn't expose themselves as easy to regular civilians. The mansion itself was surrounded by a 12 foot gate embedded with silver and iron and surrounded by Hunters. Very close to the same type of fortress that we had at home. It would be a suicide mission to try and invade it without coming with an army and that would pose potential exposure to the human world that they couldn't afford. That's what made it perfect.
"You have arrived." The GPS chimed and turned off. We pulled up to the sound box and pushed the call button. The gate itself was massive and was painted black and was solid so you couldn't see inside. "Walker residence! Can I help you?" The same high pitched lady said. I guess she is in charge of arrivals? Or is she alone? The thought sent chills down my back. If she is alone, how is she guarding the inside? Where is everyone else? Is this a trap? Everyone else must have caught on too because they all shifted in their seats and took off their seatbelts. I heard a gun c**k in the back seat and a katana click out of its sheath. "Keep your guard up guys. Ron, answer her back before she grows more suspicious." I tell them all in a hushed tone so the speaker couldn't catch on. "Yes Ma'am. Party of 5 for Miss Knight here for the reunion." Ron said with proudly. Not a second later the gates open up. Ron puts the suburban in gear and pulls us forward down the driveway. "Ron, load your gun, I'll grab the wheel. Something doesn't seem right. Better us be on guard than ambushed." I tell him. He nods and quickly loads his gun and takes the wheel when he's done. Luckily for us the driveway was about 100 yards up and had trees on both sides. "Jenna, Axel and Ron, if things go south. Guard the car and stay by the weapons. We will need the sharp shooters by the ammo. Shelby, you and I will take on anyone in close proximity. Keep your katana ready." I commanded. My heart rate was already going up and filling with adrenaline.
This was very shitty timing. If anything, we are outnumbered and out in the open. If this wasn't anything and we were being overly paranoid, well, I would hope that they wouldn't think that we were rude for suspecting things felt off. As we pulled up a bit closer, we could see the mansion a bit clearer. The house had all the lights on and was 2 stories tall. It had a red roof with tiles that looked so delicately layered on top that it looked like they would fall off if the wind blew the wrong way. The stucco was a ivory white color that looked beautiful against the dim yard lights. The red mood made it look graceful. The mansion itself must have at least 12-15 rooms but just looking at it. We pulled up to the 6 car garage and put it in park. "Max, someone is walking out from the front door." Jenna nodded to the giant red front door to our right. It was massive. It alone had to be at least 10 feet tall. "It's one person guys, I will get out first and see what to do from here. Everyone, stay in and stay alert. If any of you see anything out of the ordinary, don't wait for my mark. Just go for it." They all nodded in the directions they were looking in to acknowledge that they were all listening.
I got out of the passenger seat and closed the door. My eyes were staring straight at this person in front of me. She had to be at least 15 feet away standing at the front door but the sensor didn't go off yet for me to see her appearance. I didn't have to look anywhere else because I knew my team was doing that for me. I walked with my head held high and with grace. I may be a warrior but I was also a noble. "Princess Maxine! It's a honor to have you and your elite with us! Please forgive me for not having the others come out to meet you. We have a bit of a situation going on and I am the only one available to step away. I don't mean to rush but I really do need to be getting back inside. Please, come inside with your belongings and I will show you to your rooms." The light from the yard light finally hit the woman for me to get a good look at. She had extremely short red hair in a very close pixie cut. It was engine red so it was vibrant against her blue eyes. She had to be at least 5'5"ft and had a very delicate aura around her. Like she was built for office life and not the life of a warrior. She had short black heels and a tight fitting black office attire on. I didn't recognize her so she had to be from the outside. I took at least two more strides to her and held out my hand. "I'm sorry. I didn't catch your name." I smiled and waited for her response. Her eyebrows shot up and she slightly bowed her head. "I beg your pardon Princess! I didn't think I was worth knowing." She stammered out in her high pitched voice. "My name is Samantha Grey." She took my hand and shook it a few times. I smiled at her while she smiled back and raised up my left arm in a fist just above my head. This was my signal to my team that we were in the clear. After meeting Samantha, I didn't get a foreboding feeling from her that raised any suspicions. She looked at my fist then looked at the suburban that held my team. My team opened all their doors at the same time. I just noticed that Shelby must have climbed up front because her little body jumped out of the driver seat.
They had their weapons on safety or put away and walked toward us. "Everyone, meet Samantha Grey. She is going to be showing us our rooms. But first," I looked back at her and changed my tone to a serious one," she was going to tell us why there is minimal security and what situation she was referring too earlier." My team immediately focused their eyes on her instead. The aura we all gave off was one that felt dangerous and would get anyone instantly nervous. Especially someone from the outside. Her doe like blue eyes widened a bit with anxiety and she cleared her throat. "Yes, if you would all follow me to the surveillance room. We mapped out the warehouse for the attack later on today and it seems that something big is happening. I can explain more inside. It seems that our target Alpha Jayce is preparing for something." She turned on her heels and walked back to the red door. That was our signal to follow. We all stayed in silence as we followed her in. The inside of the mansion was beautiful. It had pictures of Raine and portraits of my mother and father in the entryways. The walls were painted a beautiful golden color that made the white tile look elegant. The only thing to give the timeless building a modern look as the security cameras. They were painted to match the walls but looked so out of place with the black lens. "Damn bro! This place looks dope!" Axel said. Shelby mumbled an agreement as we walked by the staircase that had cherry wood railings that looked so mesmerizing you almost wanted to stare at it. We walked maybe 25 yards into the building when approached double doors. "Right through here please." Samantha said. She took her retractable badge and beeped it onto the side. Instead of the doors opening traditionally, they slid to the side like a barn door and a set of thick metal doors were in their place and also slid to the side. Inside were at least 30 different people all buzzing around. They had layouts of the warehouse posted up, locations of other parts of the city as well and multiple pictures of Jayce.
"Princess on deck!" Someone in the crowd announced and everyone stopped in their tracks and did a quick bow and got back to work. "Samantha, I think we need an explanation. Now." Jenna now said. Samantha nodded and walked to another room that was a mini conference room. The walls were glass but tinted so you can see out but cannot see in. Picture of the warehouse already pulled up and Samantha had a projector button for slides. We all took out seats at the little round table in the middle while she stood. "You have all noticed the buzz in that room. Something big is happening. We just don't know what yet. The Alpha Jayce's beta, Aaron, has been abnormally close to him lately as if to keep his Alpha in check. On camera he seems to have almost shifted in front of his human crew during the daylight. This usually happens when a Alpha is about to find is Luna. But, we could be wrong. Sometimes this does happen with anger.
There are rumors of a pack war about to be unleashed, but, that's still a rumor. The Alpha is more powerful than previous Alphas as I know you all have been briefed. If he finds his Luna, we're done for. They could lead a war against Raine and destroy all Hunter Kingdoms in the world. Leaving it all to be taken over by Supernatural." She clicked to a aerial layout of the warehouse. "The entrances of the warehouse are here, here and here." She pointed with her laser pointer. "There is nothing explosive inside the warehouse so bullets are fine. We will send our teams to 2 doors. This means that the one door will be left to you all. We will be your distractions while you take out our target." She turned off the projector and the lights slowly came on. "I understand that you all need a few hours of sleep. Here are layouts of your room" she handed us little index card sized maps of the mansion and retractable badges , "and your badges. Please don't lose them. Its a little after 4am. Please get a few hours of sleep and I will inform the chef to have breakfast ready for you by... "she paused," lets say 11am?"
I looked at my comrades and they looked alert but tired. They needed sleep. Tomorrow, technically today was going to be a stressful day and they needed rest. I looked at Samantha and smiled. "11 is fine. I appreciate the information. We will see you soon." Samantha walked out of the door and left us. "Okay, lets grab our gear and head to our rooms. Try to sleep guys. We saw the plan, all we have to do is show up and kick some supernatural ass. We got this guys." I smiled a sleepy smile and we headed to the car to get our stuff. Today is gonna be a big day. I am either going to see my birthday tomorrow or I'm not. All I have left to do now is sleep.
