Follow me.

I kept going in and out of consciousness. One minute I would hear voices and feel the vibration of the vehicle then the next I would be asleep again. The whole thing felt like a daze. Where was my team? Are they alive? Why didn't they run? Is Jayce still holding me or is this a stranger? Even with my eyes closed I can tell it was still dark. That either means one of two things. Either we still aren't that far from the city or... I've been unable to move for over a day. Either way, I know I have to be alert for when the car stops and we face whatever we have to face. I wonder if my father has been alerted yet about the mission. About our failure. Even in my drugged state I still feel unsettled. I ruined 4 lives with my hesitation. I hope they forgive me. I feel myself falling back into a state of darkness. No...  "Max...Max! Wake up!" I feel myself being shaken. I blink a few times and rub my eyes and start to sit up. "f**k you're hard to wake up!" Jenna mumbled. I looked around and saw all the members of my team sitting down staring down at me. Everyone looked worried... but okay. "I don't understand Princess... why are we all alive? Something feels odd about all of this. We are Hunters, they know this. We went to that warehouse to kill them yet we are all unbound, unharmed and given the luxury of food and water." Axel nodded toward the table that had fruit and water bottles. I furrowed my eyebrows and bit my lip while I looked around. The room that we were all held in looked like an interrogation room that was made into a quick makeshift shelter for us. There were no windows and only one door with the small table in the corner that was filled with the food items that seemed untouched. I agreed with Axel. Something seemed off about all of this. But at the same time, I didn't feel mad about this. They kept my team alive and unharmed. If something terrible was to become of us, we all would have been harmed, shackled, beaten or worse. Jenna met my eyes and she quickly looked away. I could tell that she felt the same but I didn't want to ask why in front of the others. Shelby and Axel were sitting next to each other in one corner. Ron sat completely across from all of us. Staring off into space and completely closed off from everyone. I took a deep breath and let it out slowly. "I don't know what their plans are with us, but, I will figure it out. I'm sorry for all of this happening. I wish you all ran but I want you to know that I appreciate your loyalty for standing by me." I sat in the corner and closed my eyes so I could think. I felt Jenna sit next to me and let out a long sigh. "Good afternoon Hunters." A voice boomed from the intercom. My eyes shot open and my stomach dropped. Shelby's breathing started to quicken and from the corner of my eye I saw Axel pat her arm so she could calm down. "Welcome to the Blackwater Pack." The voice continued." We understand the most, if not all, of you are wondering why you are all still alive and and unharmed." Jenna and I glanced at each other without moving our heads and looked back at the intercom. "Alpha Jayce has requested that you all remain unharmed and treated with respect so I can assure you that the food and drink items on the table are edible and untampered. So please, help yourselves. With that being said, we know of your... employment so we ask for the same courtesy that we have shown you. Please do not attack any of our pack members as we have demonstrated that we would not attack yours. But we have been instructed that any squad member who fails who comply will no longer be covered under the Alphas protection. So please keep that in mind. One last thing. Our Alpha also requested the presence of your Captain. I apologize for not knowing the name of your leader. Do you accept the Alphas call for a meeting?" The voice stopped. Waiting for my answer.  I worried for my team but the voice was correct. They have upheld their word on not harming us, for whatever reason, and provided us with water and snacks. I also have vowed to keep them alive and as their Princess, I have an obligation to do whatever it takes to keep them breathing. Even if it means a meeting with the enemy. I squeezed my fists into a hard ball and stood up. "I accept the request for the meeting with Alpha Jayce." I kept my voice steady and full of authority. "Very well." The voice boomed again through the intercom. "Beta Aaron will come and escort you to the conference room in 30 seconds. And once again, any member attacked from your team will be met with consequences. Please keep that in mind." The intercom voice stopped. "I'm going to talk to the Alpha and figure out what they plan to do with us. I am ordering you to not attack any of the werewolves. We have no weapons and no idea how to get out of here. Lay low, drink water and keep your guard up. Please." I walked up and stood by the door. I heard the unlocking of the door  and watched it open and was met with Beta Aaron. I expected his eyes to be on me but they looked around me and went straight for Jenna who was directly behind me. Her eyes were open wide and her mouth slightly opened. He stood there for another second then he broke eye contact. He held the door open for me and I took that as my moment to walk out. We were both in the hallway and he locked the door behind us. "Please, follow me."
