Amber was lying beside me, sleeping so soundly. Even though the sun was up and I should have been sleeping too, I couldn’t. I simply wasn’t able to because I was so enchanted by the little hybrid beside me.

Amber moaned softly in her sleep, pulling me out of my thoughts. She turned to face me and suddenly opened her eyes, looking frightened, which immediately worried me. She sat up, glancing around as if she wasn’t sure where she was.
“It’s okay,” I whispered, reaching out and placing my hand on her shoulder.
