A month had passed since everything, and things were going smoothly. Today, Colum and Derrick, along with a few council members, had come over. We had begun working more closely together lately. Suddenly, a knock at the door broke the conversation. I glanced at the time and smiled. I still had a promise to keep. When my mate walked in with a small bag and a jacket, I couldn’t help but feel a rush of warmth.
“Ready?” she asked.
I nodded and stood up before turning to the confused council members. “Now I’ll let you guys handle the rest of the work. I’ll see you in a few months,” I remarked.
“Months?” Derrick questioned.
I nodded and walked around the table to Amber, who was smiling at me. “Yes, I’m going on vacation,” I revealed.
“Vacation?” Colum echoed.
