Looking into every room I passed, I searched high and low for my mate, taking down any obstacle in my way.
“Amber! Where are you?”
The house was nearly empty now. Everyone had fled, which made it easier to move. But as seconds turned into minutes, hope of ever finding Amber began to fade.
