“Okay, I’m going to fall asleep if I keep reading this boring stuff,” I declared, tossing the big, old book down on Ronan’s desk. It was a stupid law book, and I didn’t want to stare at one more word or I’d go insane. Ronan looked up from his computer.
“I’m going to get some coffee,” I announced, standing up. “Want some?”
“Sure,” he replied, and the way he smiled at me made my heart race.
The work might be boring, but my work partner certainly wasn’t. Turning away, I left the office and walked downstairs to get some coffee. I found Everly in the kitchen, looking so serious as she sat there typing on her laptop, only stopping to take occasional sips of coffee. She didn’t seem to notice me as I walked into the room.
